Gender Queer: A Memoir by Maia Kobabe

5.0

This stunning comic memoir follows Maia (e, em, eir) through a deeply personal journey of self-discovery. From childhood to adulthood, e shares eir experiences of questioning gender and sexuality, navigating body acceptance, coming out  and the struggle of correcting misgendering.

So much of Maia’s story resonated with me, making this an incredibly affirming read. E delves into eir experiences with romantic attraction and sexuality, questioning whether e are asexual, and shares insights from past dating experiences. I also loved the way Maia weaves in eir love of books and how they played a role in eir journey.

A heads-up - there are references to that boy wizard’s world.
