If you loved The Glass Castle, then I cannot recommend it's follow up enough. This book was sweet and free and everything an Arizona girl would want to read about. I loved hearing about the familiar places like the Hoover Dam, Havasupai Falls, Phoenix, and even the little towns like Red Lake and Horse Mesa. This woman's character is so admirable and inspiring, and I wish more people today had her grit and strength. She knew what needed to be done and just did it without complaining or wishing life had dealt her a different or better hand. She considered herself just as rich as anyone with money and I loved that so much.
This was such a great read.

Did not finish book.
This was half a historical explanation and half actual story. You literally had a chapter of plot and a chapter of historical background and I eventually got too tired of the historical background of the nazis that I deemed it not worth staying for the plot. I love the history. I love learning. She just needed to integrate the history better to keep the story moving.

Not as good as the Notebook of course, but still could not bring myself to give it less than 5 stars. Still a great story.
