Crimson River by Devney Perry

This was so good.
The story was amazing, honestly I got obsessed with this one.
I particularly loved that this was more like suspense the whole time, the romance was actually barely there.. (I don’t know if I was a 100% okay with that to be honest, I did wished the characters had a little bit more of romance and chemistry going on).
I really like Devney Perry writing style, this is just the second book I’ve read of the series (Juniper Hill was the first and I LOVED IT) and she hasn’t disappointed me YET. BUT I still felt like something was missing on this one, I’m guessing it’s the romance.
Anyways, I don’t know if I would recommend this book as a romance book, but it’s a nice one for a bit of mystery.

Solid one.
This book is probably better for a teenage audience (I’m 25 almost 26 so I didn’t appreciated as much as I would have if I was like 15-18 years) but it’s soooo good.
The characters were so unique, they had their own moments, their stories (each one of them) were depth and well delivered through the book.
The story was cute, the romance as well 🥹🩵
The growth of our main character was beautiful.
I really enjoyed the summer vibe 🤭
But I also personally believe that the ending was rushed a lot, I would have liked to see maybe 2 chapters more of development of the end of the story but it was a wattpad book so I guess I can’t ask for much either, anyways it’s such a good young adult book, recommended for a beach/summer read.
🚨 Update (2025): I’m in fact 27 now and still think the same about this book 😬 AND this book has a movie now! Just learned that 🫣

First of all, this is actually the first book of the series that i’ve read. i liked it, it wasn’t the best book i’ve ever read (not even close) but it was okay compared to others. i found it funny sometimes, i laughed, i also cringed a little bit.. i didn’t liked much the dirty talk idk it was weird sometimes for me. the characters: they were something 😂 i liked Wes, didn’t know i had a thing for uncles who takes the responsibility before this book, he was very sweet with his niece and it was lovely seeing how that relationship evolved. now Bethany.. she wasn’t what i was expecting, she had a lot going on inside her head, which got me frustrated a lot of times through the story. i didn’t liked the reality show part but it helped to solve Bethany’s and Stephen (her brother) relationship so.. overall it was a good reading, idk if i would recommend it, i guess it would depend of the person

Exactly what i was expecting. although i have to say i didn’t expect Kid to be my favorite character lol. at first i thought he would be a problem between the main characters but it was exactly the opposite, loved him. the plot was good but i didn’t find myself loving the bull ridding so much, i don’t know i guess it’s not my thing; and i can’t help thinking that the plot got lost somehow through the story, the main theme was Summer working on Rhett’s image but at some point that just vanished.
now, Summer: i think she was okay, i mostly don’t like much the female characters at books but she was fine, loved how strong she was and how her story developed.. but didn’t liked how stubborn she was sometimes, mostly as the end was coming. and Rhett: well the man is definitely something.. very hot character but also very kind and sensitive, such a good guy with his people.. i enjoyed reading how Rhett grow up and mature throughout the book.
the romance was definitely not the best. i definitely didn’t liked the “princess” nickname, hated it tbh (nothing against the nickname usually but in this particularly story i didn’t liked it). and i did find annoying the amount of times that it was talked about him jerking off.
i have to be honest here, i read heartless (rate: 4.4) first and i liked it and enjoyed it a lot more than this one.

DAMMIT! I was NOT expecting this!!
God this book is SO BEAUTIFUL.
The story is so cute!! Single mom trope is not my favorite but this book it’s just something else 🤯
I can’t say much about the main characters, I don’t have any particular objections this time because I just loved so much how their life’s and personalities evolved through the story (but I have to confess that there were some scenes that I couldn’t help but cringe a lot over the situation, the milk thing it’s an example).
BUT I did loved Lucy so much omg and I don’t even like kids that much!!
And Eli just melted my heart, for real ❤️🩹
Sooooo good if u like to read heart-warming romance 🥹🫶🏻

This is marriage of convenience but in a different way than i’m used to honestly.. i didn’t suffer as much as i usually do. the characters were fine (it got me mad that they didn’t stand up for themselves earlier like.. they’re grownups people for the love of god) but anyways, i liked them both. i didn’t liked Jessie’s character, i truly believe she was a bad friend and that Lily was better off without her. it was an easy and quick read, it’s a short story that i devoured in one day. i would recommend if u have nothing else and are up to trying something just for the sake of it.

This one’s reaaaally fast-paced (for me at least). it was fun and sweet at the same time. there is no spice in this one. so okay let’s get to the main theme: i liked the relationship of Hannah and Jack from the very first moment they’d met. both character’s seemed to grow beautifully through the story. Jack’s mom was my absolute favorite, like how can u not love this woman?? BUT about the writing i cannot believe that some little things were like lost in the story, like.. how did i not know that Jack wears glasses til i was almost at the end of the book?!? anyways it’s a quick read and it’s entertaining

I just came with the conclusion that this book wasn’t for me. i loved Callan and Katy and even Callan’s friends and Layla’s family but i couldn’t connect with Layla not even for a second through the whole book, it was really hard for me to finish this one (and i only did it bc i’m a stubborn bitch that hates not finishing books that i’m already halfway done with). i didn’t liked neither enjoyed the spice between these both characters, i hated the “baby girl” thing. and it was just exhausting for me to read. anyways this was just a me thing, and based on the high rating that this book has i’m confident that it’s really good for some people, you just gotta like the vibe

I absolutely LOVED this book. if you have seen “Letters to Juliet” i personally got a little vibe of that movie on this book (and let me be clear about something: that movie is my favorite romance movie of all times). this was such a heartwarming story, i cried, i laughed, and i fell deeply in love with each character, specially with Paul (oh god that grandpa had my heart from the very first time he appeared). it’s a short book (considering), and you’ll find yourself wanting to know more and more about Gram’s letter’s just as the main character. oh and, there’s one particularly letter at the very end that got me sobbing so much, i really hope you love it as i did. i truly enjoyed this book so much (the writing, the pace, the plot, the chemistry, the banter.. it was all so perfect) i can’t even find the right words to describe it.. it felt real and i can’t wait to read more of this author.
ps: i now really want this book physical to add it to my shelf and reread it over and over again

Letters to Molly by Devney Perry

This was very very sweet.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t had so much faith in the divorced trope but it turned out great 🥹❤️🩹
Our main characters (Molly and Finn) been through so much, and it was beautiful to read how they evolved together through the story, how they finally make it good at the end.
I rooted for Finn from the first letter to be honest so there’s not much to say, I just loved the guy 😅❤️
It was a nice reading, very emotional and sweet as it was sad and heartbreaking.
I might not read it again ever but I hope I can remember them (I believe I will, divorced trope points) 🤭
➡️ Present update: I do remember them, even a year later. And contrary to what I said in my review I do believe now that I would read this book again; it was honestly so wonderful, Devney always amazes me with her writing, and it deserves a re-read so 😌🤭
