I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella

Oh, Sophie!

I started this book after some fairly heavy summer reading and was sorely disappointed. Even though I was hoping for some fluffy chick lit, Kinsella takes us to new lows with this book. I thought, after reading a few titles of hers not featuring the insufferable Rebecca Bloomwood, that she could deliver a decent read. However, despite the character change, Kinsella assumes a similarly bumbling character in Poppy.

I won't spoil the book but it's inane how Poppy, who seems to be a level-headed woman throughout the novel, make a decision that will make you cringe and predict the ending accurately.

The footnotes are annoying and unnecessary. And don't get me started on Kinsella's penchant for having poor/broke 20-something year old idiotic women saved by and fall in love with older, richer, smarter men.

some people really understand that you don't need to write long diatribe on the law of attraction. Sometimes you really just need a few key words, thoughts and ideas to really express the main important ideas. James Allen does an excellent job of writing only the information in this nugget of a book.

I'd have given this book 5 stars if I didn't find myself skipping the gruesome chapter 10 on *spoiler alert* post mortem cannibalism.

not her best work. its supposed to be a letter but reads like a collection of ideas for a novel or scrap paper musings. its surprisingly short. I finished it in 2 hours.

I read this on vacation and it was a light, fluffy read that I devoured since it required little or no brain processing. this isn't a book I'd read normally but it's perfect beach reads.
