⚠️ SPOILERS! ⚠️

The previous book in this series was so good, so my expectations for this one were quite high.
I felt that the pacing of the book was off. Everything happened too fast.
For example, even Feyre pointed out that the last war lasted years, yet this β€˜huge terrifying army that we could not possibly match’ was taken out in like a week…
With that being said I think the story was still good. It just felt very rushed. Things didn’t impact me the way they should’ve.
Relationships fell flat for me. I wish we got more relationship building between everyone, including between our own found family as well.
Another thing… I don’t think this book needed spice, I felt it was a bit forced. That could only be me tho, I just felt uncomfortable with it in this book and it made me cringe at times. I would’ve much rather seen them comfort each other more emotionally, and lean more into that eternal love they have rather than the sexual tension.
Also, Rhys… love him and how considerate he is and how he will always take Feyre’s side, BUT she puts herself in so much unnecessary danger. Danger that could not only kill her but jeopardize their whole army’s success. I would’ve liked to see Rhys tell her that no it’s not okay to just wander off alone. Like be protective over your girl… she almost died?!
As much as I wanted everyone to survive the whole war and us living happily ever after, I felt like there ended up being nothing at stake in this war, cause we just bring them back or heal them, etc. The fact that we all walked away unscathed was unrealistic. Like at least give someone an injury, at least make one other high lord lose their life… this war was supposed to be so terrible, yet we took NO DAMAGE?!  πŸ™„
I think this book could’ve been made into two separate parts. That would’ve definitely helped develop the relationships more, make other characters matter more, and for the war to actually feel scary and real and not so simple.
Overall, I still enjoyed the book while reading it, but reflecting back to it I realize that I just wanted so much more from it. So I cannot give this book a rating over 3.5 stars.

Oh my… I had to sit with this one for a couple of days before making this post. I originally gave it 4.5 stars, but after two days of reflecting, I am bumping it to a 5 star read.

I started this series apprehensively, thinking β€œcan’t be that good, right?!”, well THIS book will go down as one of the best stories I’ve ever read.

The pacing of this book was beautiful, I didn’t want to put it down and devoured it in like 2.5 days. There were chapters in the book, that I decided to read again, the moment I finished them.
So thank you to everyone on the internet for making me push through the first one. The second book makes it all worth it.

I am already reading the third book, stay tuned!

Okay, I’m going to be honest… I wanted to stop reading it so badly for most of the book, but everyone online kept saying that I need to keep going. So I did.
Overall, a solid 3.5 star read, if I would only rate the last 30% of the book, I would probably bump it up to a 4 or even a 4.5.
I am excited to start the next book tho and keep reading the series.
