I loved that a children’s book was written in verse but that when read, didn’t feel like it. It made it easy for me to read and dive in. This book dealt with grief well. I really enjoyed this one.
Sports romance and particularly car racing romance is becoming a comfort genre for me. It’s definitely a good read to have when you’re returning from reading after a small break. I found Fast & Reckless easy to dive into and a quick read that kept me wanting more. The only thing that made me pull away a little was the third act breakup and some of the dialogue.
But other than that, a really enjoyable read.
I really wanted to love this book, but it ultimately fell flat for me. There was too many Doctor Who references (even for me who is obsessed with the show). I also just couldn’t get into the dialogue and miscommunication. There was a conflict scene that’s just so common that really put me off too.
The only redeeming quality for me was that the book discussed some serious topics and was dealt with well.
Out Of The Woods discusses a reconnection during a potential marriage breakdown. I really liked the idea of counselling via hiking/camping (I am not a camper, but I do love reading about it). This book was just written so well and I absolutely loved reading everything second of it.
Just a heads up, it is an interconnected standalone. While I haven’t read Out On A Limb, I was aware of the tropes and so I don’t think it would spoil the book for me when I do get around reading it (but if you care about spoilers, read Out On A Limb first).
A book about Egyptian mythology set during the Egyptomania period? Sign me up! I really liked learning about a new mythology from ancient Egypt and love a good curse story too. Driscoll did an amazing job of painting the picture of Egypt filled with lots of action. This was easy to dive into and was a quick page turner. However, there were elements that I did feel like were too stretched out.
