The Hunger Games, but make it sapphic.

Ava Reid just gets better with every book. There is a lot to love about this book: it felt extremely nostalgic, with rich world-building and strong character arcs. At the very heart of this dystopian story is a very nuanced exploration of violence towards women and the ways in which young women, especially young queer women, survive worlds that are built to keep them from existing without fear.

Forever an auto-buy author for me.

I hope when I’m older I get to spend my free time reading books, snooping on my neighbors, and solving cozy murders in my small town.

Brb going to see what phase of the moon I was born under.
This was the dark academia of my dreams. The world-building was so immersive. The characters complicated and so fleshed out. It does take some time to get into the story, but once I was in, I was in. Definitely a favorite read of the year for me.

There’s not much more to say than this is one smart book. The parallel to our world today was deeply unsettling, and while the naïveté of the main character was frustrating, the hope in these pages sold me. I will say that the magic system went over my head, but damn.

It’s Bridgerton but with magic. It really delivered on all levels for me (especially the yearning) and now I’ll be anxiously awaiting book two.

It’s been a while since I devoured a book and didn’t guess the ending halfway through.

I kick my feet and scream over fictional men written by women a lot and Captain Gideon Sharpe is no exception. Ultimately predictable, but I loved this series.

Oh Coal, my favorite disaster bisexual.

Kicked my feet and squealed over this. Now to (im)patiently wait for Kris’s (Kris’? [Grammar is hard]) story.
