I don't know how to sell this one. It was a blast. Love Island but also it's a horror with a very mild bigfoot spin? Horror fans may be put off by the extended build-up, especially if you're used to constant action. Either way, if you're on the fence definitely give it a try. It's fun!
I think this one would have benefitted from being a physical book rather than an audio. The narrator was excellent but having visual representations of artworks would have elevated the experience. As a story, I think it's pretty killer. It's basically nonfiction that reads so unbelievably that if you didn't know that it was real you would think "There's no way. No real museum has security this crappy!" Then you remember you worked for the company that hired security for the local BIG museum and think "oh yeah. I guess that checks."
A lovely sci-fi adjacent coming-of-age novel. Adina is both alien and completely relatable. I may have cried listening to the audiobook on the way home from work.
This book is going to sit with me for a while. It's not one I can often recommend but if you're into weird almost horror lit or coming of age books that need a little something extra, this is for you. I also found it compelling even if it was slow in parts.
I saw this at a bookstore and decided it was right up my alley. Food history and the importance of food diversity? Sign me up. There's a lot of information packed into this. I found myself more interested in some sections than others and skimming through some parts. It's appreciated that Saladino does not entirely focus on the Western world, but this is a truly global look at disappearing foods.
I'm not a mech fan. I have watched Gundam Wing 3 times and could tell you literally nothing about it. I LOVED Iron Widow. I may be biased since I enjoy Zhao on YouTube, but I was impressed. Wu Zeitan is like Katniss Everdeen if she stopped caring about anything else. I stan a bitch who knows she needs rights.
A great psychological thriller. It really gets into the mind of an abused daughter of a serial killer who has conflicting views of herself. Great for domestic thriller fans!
Mandel does it again. An absolutely gorgeous sci-fi piece I couldn't put down. Sci-fi junkies may dislike the predictability, but this is about the journey, not the destination.
