A stunning story based on true events that discusses the complexities and struggles of homosexuality in a repressive society. The book truly is heartbreaking and gives a glimpse of how difficult it was for people who belong to the LGBTQ+ community to live their lives during the 1950s. Forester’s writing is nothing short of authentic and gut wrenching. I cannot recommend this novel enough.

This book truly deserves all the hype in the world. It really is an important book that covers challenging topics while keeping a lighthearted tone. Wes and Brita are both beautiful characters who are so easy to fall in love with and you find yourself rooting for them the whole time both together and individually.
