When Katie Met Cassidy by Camille Perri

This is not a good book. It plays on a lot of stereotypes of both Lesbian and Straight women, complete bi erasure as well. The writing is not good. And the ending is incredibly unsatisfying.
Minor Feelings: An Asian American Reckoning by Cathy Park Hong

An excellent retelling of her experiences, as well as a deep dive into a select couple of important Asian figures in the US and how they were given the spotlight or shoved out of it. Highly recommend.
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

WOW. Even when I thought I knew what the twist was, I did not. The chapters are short enough to keep my turning the pages again and again. Such a beautiful story, please write a sequel. And then this into a limited series.

Read it in three sittings, VERY well written. The author is amazing at crafting a world and immersing you in it. For those who know Boston, the city is another character. I felt like I knew exactly what the Casey was feeling, when she hates someone so did I, when she was ecstatic so was I, etc etc. All men in this book are trash though, I do not think she will marry the guy she is dating in the end, please no.

Such a sweet story, and they all get to follow their dreams. So diff to read an adult romance novel and then a teen rom
com. Much less sex (none) and much more shy kissing. This stoked my hopeless romantic nature.

Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro

Ishiguro’s ability to create new worlds filled with intimate details is absolutely unmatched. Each book is like an episode of black mirror except incredibly in depth and intense. A joy to read, even if I didn’t understand some of it.

I really don’t understand the hype around this book. I could see where the author was trying to make her comments on class and race but for me, it fell flat, felt very forced. It’s just a bunch of breaking and entering and a woman who is too afraid or thinks too little of herself to say what she wants and act on it.

I truly just don’t think I have the imagination for this book. I can tell there are many stories and meanings that I could get if I were able to focus or maybe soft focus more and let my imagination run wild. As it is, this was a bit of a slog to get through.
