I did enjoy the chemistry between the main couple very much. The sexual tension was wonderful to follow along and I really enjoyed the humour too. I did devour the whole thing in a time but I felt the story fell a little flat as it got to the end.

I don't know why but I found this book aesthetically beautiful. The writing, the imagery, the characters, the nicknames, it all falls under my subjective tastes. Some things about the ending didn't come together as I felt it should.

I thought Connie was a fascinating protagonist and despite her being an unusual lady for her time, it didn't scream too much 'not like other girls.'

I think I may read it again just for the beautifully dark visuals and the heavy atmosphere.

Gives me the same fascination I have with Guillermo del Toro's work.

I hardly read anymore, but this had me glued the moment I read the summary. I finished this in one day, screaming about it to my friends as I read along. I was able to see the twist coming, it was a simple but logical hint which I appreciated. To be honest, it made me happy because I usually can NEVER solve a mystery on my own.

The ending is quite abrupt but I don't think it took away from my experience. Thoroughly enjoyed, def would recommend to others who love a good drama thriller!

Jacqueline Wilson has been my favourite author was I was growing up, and this is probably my favourite among her works. I didn't understand it very well the first time I read it but I was enraptured by the atmosphere and how Violet saw magic everywhere she went.

The way Wilson describes things was my favourite thing as a child, and it stands today. The characters were all fascinating, especially Violet. She felt like a very real nerdy girl trapped in her own shell, idolising certain people due to her low self-esteem, her overactive imagination painting the people around her in such interesting ways.

I've always loved Nick Sharrat's cute art. He went full out gothic illustrations here and I think they capture the vibe immensely.
