Jenny is all off us in her 30s and playing at being a grown up. Social media rules her world. She both hates and loves her boss and can’t afford her house. She loves and hates her mum. Has just split up from her twat of an ex and is about to loose friends but she is more focused on taking a picture of the perfect croissant.
This book made me laugh out loud. Jenny is so much more than she realises. It’s about women and how we never really say what is on our minds we are so afraid of everyone. This is a good read I loved it.

I started this bit knowing what to expect and by the time I finished I didn’t want it to end.

Isaac is at the lowest point in his life. He is standing on a bridge thinking about jumping (much like George Bailey. Many it’s a wonderful life mentions to come). Tragedy has struck that’s when Isaac spots egg. What follows is a tale of grief , of friendship and of love.
Bobby palmer has written a book full of heart and of emotion that at times is dark and raw and at other times beautiful.
It’s such a good book and I can’t recommend it enough. Left with the line
‘No man(woman) is a failure when they have friends’
Go on grab a spoon and jump in to Isaac and the egg

Theo is a Astrobiologist his son robin is 9 when we meet them at first. It’s easily argued and implied that robin is on the asd spectrum. He is very clever loves animals and birds and cares about the planet more than most grown ups. Alyssa ( Theo’s beloved wife and robins mum) has passed away and they are trying to put life back together in the only way the know how. Science is life to theo and robin which in (although not stated by name is clearly Trump’s America). The school want to medicate robin his dad didn’t so he takes up an offer from a friend of his late wife to train with robin. Through this robins behaviour changes in ways no one could have predicted.
I found both Theo and robin characters I really cared about. I was learning constantly in this book. It’s not just a book about a boy with an asd it’s fathers and sons, husbands and wives and what it takes to make us human and really care about the world. By the end I was in tears .

What can I say the end of this book was raw it was emotional and it was beautiful. Even more when you realise this is Maddie Mortimer’s debut novel.

The story is told from both lia’s voice and that of the cancer invading her body. I was t sure this would be a book for me and at times it was a difficult read but it’s a thing of beauty
