I think I would've enjoyed a bit more time for Hamilton and Demiesius to fall for each other, but that's because I'm a sucker for slow burns.
Dominick was my favourite character so I'm really excited for book 2 where he should get a lot of focus.

Chang Geng's pupils contracted. He reached into the heavy armor to pull Gu Yun down by the neck and, throwing all caution to the wind, pressed a kiss to those wind-chapped lips. (page 31)
This time was different from the farewell kiss they shared at the capital ramparts; it lacked the intensity of desperation. Gu Yun felt as though a corner of his heart had collapsed, offering up the softest spot in his chest. From now on, this person is mine. (page 157)
"Zixi, just now, I...I honestly thought I was dreaming." (page 256)
"In all my life, I've never had such a wonderful dream, " he said with a hint of self-mockery. His mouth crooked up in a stiff smile. "If only I never woke up. "
Catching sight of Chang Geng in the distance, Gu Yun waved him over. "Chang Geng, come here, I'll play a little something for you". (page 319)
An earnest attempt to play was what Chang Geng most feared. He strode over and wrapped his arms around Gu Yun, pulling him off his perch atop the railing. He leaned close to his ear and murmured, "Save your mouth for other things."
While everyone was screaming themselves hoarse fighting with the great condor, Chang Geng had stealthy licked Gu Yun's neck. (page 342)
Beneath the din, Chang Geng breathed into his ear, "Dying for love right here wouldn't be so bad, would it?"
Their rizz is unparalleled and I love that they take turns. This volume has so much character development for both of them. I also love a good third-wheel and Shen Yi is a perfect example.

I've never seen someone cry as much as Nangong Jingnu.
Qi Yan also spent most of her time
I enjoy how easy the politics were to follow, it made it very easy to tell that Nangong Jingnu
I'm hoping this isn't the peak of baihe.

I think when the series is fully released in English by Seven Seas then I will likely rate nearly every book 5 stars. The story and characters are absolutely phenomenal, but I did struggle to understand some of the different political factions. I'm really looking forward to a reread.
There were times I threw my head back and laughed, and there were times when I was so emotionally devastated that I needed to stop reading to sob into my hands.
The extras were also top-tier, exactly what I wanted. The truth or dare: steampunk edition extras were hilarious.

Chang Geng shot Gu Yun a glance. "I have to prepare a dowry so I can marry a general." page 372
Chang Geng rizz in this novel goes pretty hard. I'm not sure how Gu Yun hasn't completely fallen yet.
This book was very plot dense and slowed down a lot, but it was all still quite interesting. I really enjoy the dialogue between our main leads.

Violet gold was said so many times, I'm beginning to think it would've been a better name for this book.
Most of the time I forget about the "steampunk" elements since they just exist so we can have airships and "heavy infantry"

Okay this was really good and I cried a lot. It was both funny and heartbreaking. I would of course prefer they were more open with their relationship and not referred to as "Sworn brothers", but we got a lot of clearly gay moments. For it not being

Shallan and Adolin
Shallan going absolutely crazy
Dalinar's backstory was sufficiently emotionally devastating
Kaladin getting emotional when
Adolin and Pattern talking was funny af.
*Kaladin, glowing on the boat with Shallan staring in awe*
Adolin sighed and made his way up onto the high deck. Seemed they weren't forbidden here any longer. He joined Pattern, who had come up another set of steps, and was humming happily to himself.
"Kind of hard to compete with that, " Adolin noted.
"Mmm," Pattern said.
"You know, I've never really felt like this before? It's not just Kaladin, it's all of this. And what's happening to us. " He shook his head. "We are certainly an odd bunch. "
"Yes. Seven people. Odd." page 1070
"We'll be fine. " Adolin glanced at Pattern, Syl, and the spren of his sword(Maya) . "Right, guys?"
"Mmmm," Pattern said. "I do not like being stabbed."
"Wise words, friend. Wise words. " page 1156
"No," Szeth said. "I am not good at being a person. It is... a failing of mine. " page 1207
Did not finish book. Stopped at 24%.
