This book is a mess. I know what it was going for with the Agatha Christie / Knives Out vibes but my god. This book was the book version of the ‘Gasps in Spanish’ Meme. There so so many characters and chaos and fake deaths and twists that were all over the place and so random that it was just not enjoyable at all. Love Riley sager but not this book.

A good mystery read with some interesting cult elements. It felt a little more emotionally distant then the other book I read by this author and I missed that aspect of the book but still a great read.

A really fun take on fantasy with some new ideas but also mixed with some classic things you want in your fantasy.

I liked the first one so much but this one just didn’t hold up for me.
I don’t like that I had to spend half the book pretending she wasn’t going to forgive him when we all knew she would.
the first book captured me because I really enjoyed a different take on a romance and this just lacked the originality. It also just felt like everyone took turns almost dying and that was as deep as it got.

This book is so hard to rate. I think 75% of the way through I kept saying I should have DNF’d but by the end I was glad I didn’t.

The book is a mess. Most of the time the timeline was all over the place and I didn’t really understand the point of half the stories and her family seemed like such jerks it was impossible to understand what was loveable about them. By the end I felt such a warm feeling towards Italy and towards the main character that I was glad I finished it. I still dislike almost everyone else in this novel but the warmth I felt for the MC, Italy, the culture, the food and the beauty… impossible not to not love.

I deeply dislike books that just tell you that they love someone with out giving you any reason to feel the same way and I honestly felt like that for most of the people in the main characters life. I also thought this book was going to be a lot about her illness and dealing with her diagnosis but it was such a secondary thought that only seemed to pop up to move the plot forward.

I found the pacing in this book so slow. It’s not that there isn’t action, cause there is, but a lot of action didn’t feel like it was moving the story forward. I just felt like it was so slow to learn anything and by the time I did I was in the last 1/4 of the book. I also wanted to like the characters but you knew so little about them it was nearly impossible to get invested in any of them. I didn’t enjoy it but I know some people will.

Loved loved loved. To see the growth and reflection in these characters was everything. It’s going to be a book that sticks with me for a long time.

This is beautiful and reflective and makes you think about the impact of every choice.

As you learn about how one choice, the name of a child, changes the course of the lives of everyone around them you really can’t help but hate and adore the Atkins family. If you want something impactful and thoughtful this is for you.

Would’ve been an easy five star but I really struggled with the various timelines and losing track of what specific characters had been doing previously. It was just more flipping back forth than I wanted and it pulled me out of the story a bit. Otherwise, truly great.

I had such a hard time not getting a major ick from Charlie and the book just felt loaded with cliches. I wanted more as I enjoyed the first books about the Florick’s but this one just did not do it for me. Much more run of the mill basic romance.
