After the Sirens by Sharon Farrell

After the Sirens is the perfect YA novel that blends high school angst with the mature and real world pressures of EMS and EMT. Fans of YA will enjoy Cate as she grows through her new family dynamic, adjusts to a new state, and prepares for life after high school. I especially appreciate the author incorporating her own unique background in emergency services. The realistic medical storylines of nighttime ambulance rides in some way mirror the various transitions the characters experience during the day and after the sirens.

I absolutely loved reading this book. The illustration of the family dynamic and the power of the patriarch was extremely well written and kept me invested in the each of the sibling’s story lines. The biblical and historical references were creative and well placed and added a foreshadowing layer to the plot that was fun to piece together. If you enjoy puzzles and mysteries, this is the perfect book for you!

The Duchess Effect is a sequel done right! In the second novel to American Royalty, The Duchess Effect graces us with Prince Jameson and Dani once again. When we last read their story, their romance was just beginning and now, the two have quite a few royal hurdles to overcome. And just when we thought we were all done with Samantha Banks, she makes an unforgettable reappearance no one saw coming!

The Duchess Effect continues to illuminate racial disparities in the monarchy and American society and the obstacles that women in corporate America consistently face. These purposeful themes mixed with the contagious chemistry between Jameson and Dani create the perfect story to both learn and fall in love.

This is the third book that I have read from Chandler Baker and it did not disappoint! She has a creative way of writing stories that illustrate the aspects of marriage and motherhood that often go untold; the ugly truths we want to ignore or don’t know how to face.

Cutting Teeth is a gripping thriller that will leave you guessing and even questioning whether seemingly innocent 4 year olds can be guilty of murder. And just when you think you know who the culprit is, the final page will shock you!
