This book was so much fun and I loved it.

SLIGHT SPOILER about the mysterious stranger that comes out about a quarter of the way into the book? I thought it was fairly obvious just a couple chapters in, but just in case anyone wants to avoid it, stop reading.

It felt kind of like a gay little mermaid story, but with more magic, sinister political intrigue, and a fantastic coming of age plot with murder, mayhem, and tragedy. It was seriously amazing and I was sure I'd enjoy the romance aspect between a royal prince and a merman, but I was surprised to find myself so in love with the royal family as well. It was such a good read, I would highly recommend.

This was a fairly cute and simple read, it had some fun parts and some okay parts. Some of the interactions, whether banter or miscommunication and issues between characters, felt a little weak and insubstantial at times. I liked the last hour or so, it was a cute ending. The audiobook I listened to was narrated by Gary Furlong and he did fantastic.
