I enjoyed this book as it seemed brutally honest in its depiction of what a family goes through when a child is murdered. I appreciated that the narration came from the point of view of the murdered child as it allowed me to be somewhat detached from the emotions when I needed to be.

A light, easy read! My only complaint is that the resolution of the mystery felt a bit rushed and weak!

Described as a memoir and a history, The Yellow-Lighted Bookshop was written for a true bibliophile! I personally found the historical bits of the book more interesting and engaging than the memoir. The book was easy to dip into, and offers the true book and bookshop lover food for thought!

Witty, well-written, and full of laugh-outloud moments! The tale of a young black woman from South Africa is well-worth a read!
