Scent is one of the most powerful triggers for memory, and in Patrick Suskind's book, scent is the trigger for many dark deeds as well! The book is well-written, though not for the faint of heart!

Extremely dark and disturbing, this book forces the reader to confront the nightmarish topic of a school shooting from the point of view of the shooter's mother - an unrelenting narrator with basically nothing left to lose. I cannot claim to understand exactly what drew me in and kept me reading, but I surprisingly enjoyed this book.

I LOVED this book! I could relate to the character of Don, someone who often feels awkward in social situations yet, like the rest of us, wants relationships with others. The love story aspect of the novel was smart and had me rooting for Don to get a happy ending! Definitely one of the most satisfying books I've ever read!

I found The Red Queen difficult to get in to for at least the first 250 pages, mostly because I couldn't relate to any of the main characters.
