probably the best banter of the series, I really enjoyed these characters. I know it’s the textbook-romcom-formula to build tension, but the pacing felt super slow in the first half and then it was a rush to get the rest of the plot out & wrapped up in the last 100 pages. still, I liked how each minor & major reveal played out.

incredibly disorienting both in style and concept. while hard to read at times, the book flows quickly enough to not have you think about those parts for too long. until of course the very end when you’re sitting with the weight of it all.

this world is so intriguing and packed with culture. I’m glad I continued after reading the maid and the crocodile. I think the world building is excellent, but the characters don’t feel as developed as the fantasy aspects.

silly, quick read, but inconsistent pacing. the major conflict/resolution taking place over a just a few pages gave me whiplash.

this book essentially has 4 narrators with both present and past versions of the fmc & mmc, so the book never felt completely cohesive. I bumped this rating up a bit because some of the banter genuinely made me laugh.
