No real plot but you follow along with Lydia's development as she struggles to reconcile her human and vampire sides (think this is also a loose analogy for being mixed-race) and the daily discomfort women encounter. I liked the obsession with human food because I found myself feeling sympathy for her thirst for blood as she spoke about the two in so much detail.

A gross book but I found it well written, engaging & well paced even though it’s not very long. A lot happened but it didn’t feel rushed.
