I really enjoyed this! I'm a psychology person so I always appreciate when a character actually shows being effected by traumatic events. A lot of time it's overlooked or underplayed but Maas did a great job at highlighting it and it made the story more real for me and I got super invested. Tamlin is trash, and I really enjoyed how book 2 turned the tropes of book 1 on their heads. Also, the cliff hanger absolutely wrecked me. The last 30 pages had me STRESSED, which is just a testimatent to the wonderful story telling.

Such a good ending but I'm so sad it's over. Everything I LOVED about the first book was carried over and the ending is perfectly balanced between satisfying and leaving you wishing the story could continue. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because I wasn't super crazy about the POV changes to Elm, but that's only because I wasn't personally invested in his character as much as others. Otherwise, I absolutely loved everything about this book.

Oh my word - this may be my favorite book of the year so far!! The magic system is really cool and unique. The characters are interesting and relate with eachother in a intriguing way. The ending absolutely wrecked me. Gillig did an amazing job at sucking you into the story, getting you invested in the plot and characters, and then breaking your heart with a fabulous cliff hanger. Very thankful I can start the second book immediately.
