This was a good ending to the series. I rated it a bit loser than the others, because I didn't much care for the tactics and strategy and stuff.

It was a great portrayal of the repercussions of war. Too often books end with, we won the war, but in reality this is not the end.

But if you read the other books, things get dark. So be prepared.

Easy 5 stars!

I normally don't watch reality TV, but I was so hooked. The characters and the conversations felt so real.
Also, I normally don't like mixed medium (tweets and podcast in between), but in this story it made sense, and it was done in a creative way to convey conversation as well as the emotional context.

Anyway, very addicting, perfect for a buddy read!

I'm sorry to say I did not enjoy this. This is the prequal? I felt like I was missing information going in. It was very dense, a lot(!) of characters to keep track of. And I feel like I didn't get to know any of them since graphic novels are not very long or wordy.

I just didn't know what was going on...
The artwork though is stunning.

I will be reading the second one, and glance over this one, to maybe understand the story more?

Oh also, I don't know if the western style is for me. We will see.

Even though this book / series didn't really make sense, I enjoyed myself.

I rated the other books higher. This book might have been better, but I think I just don't like this writing style anymore, being stuck in the head of the protagist the entire time.

This also makes it so the actual war and battle are not explored or written well. Any conflict is resolved very quickly and not explained well. I think Sarah J Maas is just nog capable of that stuff, which is fine.

I had high hopes, but it wasn't for me. I have a real interest in linguistics and the origin of language and so on, but this book didn't scratch that itch.

The first part of the book was really boring, and felt more like a history lesson. The point was therefor lost on me.

The second part I liked better, but the author delved too deep into history again and not deep enough into the actual question. I feel like I didn't really got an answer to the question.

Overall, it felt like I was reading a history textbook.. I just did not have fun.

Reread: lots of fun, especially when listening to ‘the wheel reads’ podcast

This was a great first book for the series. It wasn't a 5 star for me (yet) because I lost track at some points, and didn't always understand what was going on. I am just getting into adult fantasy.

But, from the start I was really into it. The writing feels very natural to me, in the sense that characters seem like real people and not cartoons or cutouts.

I love the female representation and the magic system.

I am very eager to read the rest of the series (and to watch the new show on Amazon).
