A memoir co-written by Lisa Marie Presley and her eldest daughter Riley Keough. The audiobook is narrated by Julia Roberts (Lisa Marie Presley) and Riley Keough (herself).

I don’t know what inspired me to listen to this via audiobook, but damn was this good. It actually brought me to tears at several points. Such heartbreak, such gut-wrenching loss, so much pain in their family. And yet, so much faith, so much strength, and so much togetherness.

I am still processing everything, but in reality this book left me speechless.

Okay, talk about a cliffhanger!! I initially didn’t know what to think, and the story started a little slow for me. I read this through the audiobook while reading along with the Wrath & Reign omnibus, and there was something about it that made me keep listening. I’m glad I did because now I HAVE to know what happens next!

Paranormal Romance is not my go-to genre, but this was good. Very low spice.

Honestly this novella was a rollercoaster, but it did not feel like a novella. There was so much happening it felt like each page turn was another twist or pop of the unexpected.

Wishful thinking, but the story is written in a way that leaves space to write additional stories for Grey & Briar’s lives before they met.

Grey kills a bank CEO because her lack of empathy left their house in foreclosure which in turn caused his wife to unalive herself and their unborn child. It’s giving Luigi Mangioni with his revengeful vigilante murder.

Briar has her own skeletons in the closet, and when Grey finds himself in her home as he’s hiding out from the law, he’s suddenly the victim. Briar, the “little psycho” ends up holding him hostage.

It wouldn’t be a Lauren Biel book without some excellently written spice. Fear not, no foods were spoiled in the pages of this book. There is plenty of breath play, and even some “pew pew” play though.

As always, check triggers before enjoying.

This series is really enjoyable so far. You definitely have to read them in order to understand some of the plot twists, and character struggles.

Book 2 has more suspense than Book 1, and at several points I thought I had things figured out only to be genuinely shocked because I was oh so wrong.

I can’t wait to see what happens in Book 3!

Audio: 3/5
Story: 4/5

It took way too long for me to start enjoying this book. About 1/2 way through I realized it wasn’t the storyline, but the narration. It felt very choppy, and completely robotic. A story like needs to be read with emotion and inflection or it just sounds awkward.

That being said, the story itself was good. In true Lauren fashion, another food item is ruined. Tread lightly if you’re a fan of produce. I knew the story had a HEA, but it was not the ending I expected.

If you’re looking for a quick and smutty read, this would be a good choice to enjoy on your e-reader or with the physical copy.
