I am so mad. I knew this book would break my heart; and while it did, it raised in me a terrific anger at the greed, duplicity and hatred of the white men. The dehumanization and brutality visited on the native people of this continent is unforgivable and needs to be addressed. We live on stolen land, thriving because of broken promises and outright lies.

I very much want more from this universe! I'm just sorry it took me so long to read this one. I won't give anything away, but you might find yourself surprised by the twists. Well worth your time if your a fan of urban fantasy.

I keep trying to give Jeff Vandermeer a chance. The worlds are cool, but his prose turns me off. Sorry Jeff.

Honestly, this has become one of my favorite manga series ever. There's no danger, no violence, no "OMG the world we know it is ending!" But it turns daily life into an adventure. Challenges are still challenges, and Tatsu is always up for it!

I appreciated that there were no photos of the victims, crime scenes, suspects, investigators, any of it. It felt less exploitative than other true crime.
