This book was just the perfect amount of pacing, action, spice/tension, and character. It kept me wanting more, couldn’t put it down, which is how I finished it in a day. Also a lovely bit of a dark twist at the end I didn’t see coming, but set up what to expect for the next book, which I’ve already started. It was dual pov, but the audio only had one narrator, which they corrected for book two. <3

Once I got past the initial slowness of it (with the help of switching to audio that just came out), it was a fun quick read. Lowell eventually grows on you, but he is a little whiney for my taste.

I almost DNF’d, I only managed to finishing by trying it as an audiobook (I had been reading a physical copy before.) It was both fast and slow. The pacing was very mediocre, but the romance seemed to just happen and it wasn’t believable. It was trying to be more of a romance and failing and didn’t have enough plot to keep your interest. Very disappointing considering I loved her other book Sorcery of Thorns.

This was my second full time listening to this, but as a graphic audio. I love this series. It has just the right balance of plot, romance, and doesn’t lull in my opinion.

It was a struggle to finally pick up this book, but it picked up right where the last one left off I believe. Once I got into it, it was smooth sailing. There is a lot I find cheesy and repetitive, but I had to remember this is aimed at YA. Though being repetitive, I am learning, is a JLA flaw.

This was really good for a shifter book. They can be so hit or miss. Like too ridiculous and filled with grammar mistakes, plot holes, and zero depth or plot. This had good premise, engaging characters. Didn’t have too much of a lull. My main complaint is how the ending was anticlimactic and wrapped up quick.
There are other “standalones” in the series, that I could tell had some set up for who the characters were they would focus on later. Since book 4 came out 4/2023, I’m hoping there are more books, because there was one REALLY interesting side character I want more story for and the hints of a romance starting.
