The name made me pick up the book.
this short read was no less than a bomb.
Imagine going to a library like any other normal day for returning some books, then you met an old man who is like a librarian, you asked him for more books but something about him was ominous, you try to avoid and go home. But he won't let you go!

It's a story of a boy, a shipman, & some bizzare tales

The relationship of library and reader made it more spooky & terrifying. The next part will just keep you on your edge. It's just one of Murakami's way, he will left you with your thought without answering anything & you need to figure it out.

I listened to the audiobook of this book, after listening to this, i wanted to find my ikigai, the experience while listening was so serene. I don't read non fiction usually but I loved this one. the idea of ikigai, the meaning behind it is so beautiful. It passes an innerpeace to my mind.

after listening to more of this book, i realized that we already have found ikigai in our life, we just need to look for it in our daily life, recognize it & always remembers it.

Deep in the forest, far from the human world, remains a land of faeries . The magnificent mythical creature who can not lie. They are more than the word beautiful but beware, they have other means to sway you, to glamour you.

The name cruel prince is really justice to the book. It pierced my heart several times, just don't want to spoil now.

Let's begin the tale of sacrifice & Love, politics, treachery & power.

This is the tale of Jude and her sisters who was forcibly brought to the estate of Faerieland by Madoc, her adopted father who killed her parents.

Fast forwarded to ten years, Jude wants to prove herself suitable to the High King, to the court, to her father that she is no weak and vulnerable, She wants the knighthood but her luck seems to despise her, she was targeted and bullied by Cardan, the meanest & youngest prince. What happens after that and the  unexpected twists after twists is worth to read !!

I just absolutely love & hate this, there are some parts where I hated everyone, everything and I just wanted to go inside the book by any means just to kill them myself, and there were some moments where I still wanted to go inside them but to hug and console them, to say some encouraging words. I love Jude because of her rawness, and how real she is, Yes she is stubborn, a mere human who can easily irk some arrogant faeries, yess she is smart, bold, & ambitious too but the bullies broke me somehow cuz of the things she had to go through. I still can't forgive it.

I just love the storybuilding but the character development is rare in the book, it was mainly focused on limited number of characters which really was not convincing and that's what led me to give 4 stars.
but this really is a page turner, i just couldn't stop myself from reading this as fast as I could, and I was always in an constant urgency to go back to reading and unravelling the story of what happens next !

The story depicts the essence of marital oppression, pre-independence society, racism, trauma.

the story takes place in two timelines, one with a grievous tale of 15 year old Mehar, married to one of the three brothers of opulent family, that took placed in 1929, and on the other hand we see a 18 year old drug addict man who came to India in 1999,
the story laters on reveals the relationship between them.

In the starting, we read about Mehar's life and how she adjusted herself doing the daily chores with the other two brides whom she thinks as her sisters, the only thing she was curious about was who could be her husband among the three brothers as they were never allowed to unveil her face. Her curiosity leds to a very unexpected trail of events.

honestly, i enjoyed reading it, this really was very gripping & page turner, but it felt too short & fast paced.

24 y/o Veronika decides to die despite having a good job, a good family and everything "normal" in her life, she wanted to end her life because she was fed up of same chores everyday, she had no excitement left in her life, so her best solution was to not wait for the death, and attempt suicide happily, but her deliberate attempt of killing herself with pills was a failure, she eventually ended up in mental asylum. she learned that her heart is damaged because of those pills, & only has one week left. What has she done with her remaining days ? how were the people in the mental asylum? answers are in the book ofcourse, happy reading or maybe not !

this book questions our sanity, what is NORMAL for us, the things we see is not actually the things are, there are so many philosophical things mentioned in the book,it showcase various important topics and about mental illness,  panic attack, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia symptoms

i can't even finish telling & ruin that for you.
this midnight thoughts always occurs  in our mind sometimes when we really think about human mind, the afterlife,  but we push it aside because of our responsibilities in society, we all have gone through that phase

Death is a strange thing. People live their whole lives as if it does not exist, and yet it’s often one of the great motivations for living. Some of us, in time, become so conscious of it that we live harder, more obstinately, with more fury. Some need its constant presence to even be aware of its antithesis. Others become so preoccupied with it that they go into the waiting room long before it has announced its arrival. We fear it, yet most of us fear more than anything that it may take someone other than ourselves. For the greatest fear of death is always that it will pass us by. And leave us there alone.

loved this part <3
