Not sure how to formulate my thoughts here but it kinda fixes some of my issues with the others, I liked the way we were learning things gradually in this one. It made the pay off more fun and really made me excited to keep reading.
An emotional rollercoaster 🎢🎢🎢 where's my time machine
There were things I liked about this. I enjoyed it the premise, because who hasn't wanted to slip out of a bad day and into another world?
I found it pretty entertaining and amusing, but I'm not sure if it was supposed to be as funny as I found it. Hannah is a caricature of a hot mess, technology addicted, young person struggling to make it among her more successful peers. I really enjoyed that when she was plopped into another world she wasn't immediately perfect and amazing at everything, but she was able to muddle along and grow and use the skills she already had to make an impact.
Our mmc Kane doesn't really stand out much, he's more a vehicle for Hannah to get where she needs to go. It felt like he wasn't completely developed as a character.
All in all this story had what I expected from it, and I'd probably be interested in reading the next book in the series. Thank you to netgalley and bloom books for the eArc!
The last chapter felt very out of pocket and jarring, like it was slapped in from a completely different version of this story. A cynical person would say that Alderic is a more fun character to take on an adventure in the next book and he can only do that if he's not King... But I'm not mad about it. And you know.... The people who are the best people for the job aren't necessarily the people who want the power etc etc
This was sweet. I don't relate to books about the youngest sibling as much, but being the outsider among your siblings absolutely. I liked the growth in relationships with all the characters in this one. The romance was funny.
Good in all the right ways. This is one of my favorite brother's best friend/second chance books I've read. Both characters went through a lot in their years apart, good and bad, and find each other as their place to land. It starts with a little animosity and a lot of pining. I love a "you're going to feel everything with me" kind of mmc.
The emotional abuse is from the FMC's ex, most of the content is her reflecting on his treatment of her although there is brief on page conflict. She is very supported by family, friends, and the mmc
