The Pumpkin Spice Café by Laurie Gilmore

Like most books that go viral on tiktok, I can see why a lot of people really like this! It's cozy and funny. I probably won't reread it, but I did enjoy it and will probably read Hazel's book because she's a cutie.
The Irish Goodbye: A Novel by Amy Ewing

This one follows a pretty simple romance novel set up but I still enjoyed it. Sometimes you just need a lil romance novel break. The audio is fun with the Irish accents, although as usual some of the male narrator's female voices are terrible lmao

the way I KNOW I have read this before but I have no evidence for it at all. But I knew most of what was going to happen??? I'm pretty sure I've read at least the next book as well but I'm gonna keep going 🤸♀️🤸♀️🤸♀️🤸♀️
Unloved by Peyton Corinne

I stayed up late two nights in a row reading this one. I love tender relationships and pining in books, and Peyton's writing has really nailed the particular softness that I love.
I really like that. This one starts before the timeline of unsteady and takes place at the same time. If I had known that for sure before I went in, I would have been skeptical at how it would be done but I think that this makes the most sense that way.
Freddy and Ro are wonderful characters for the traumatized, people placing, desperate to be loved lonely person inside of all of us.
Unsteady was a highly anticipated and loved book by me and I really am thankful to have received this eArc from Netgalley and Atria!

I was really excited for this book when Lexi first pitched it online and so excited to receive this eArc from netgalley and harlequin! Lexi Lafleur Brown is a great follow on tiktok and her humor really comes through in all the characters so well. The pacing felt pretty decent, especially for a debut novel.
There were a lot more specific pop culture references than in the average romance that could make this feel a little harder to get into for some folks but they were all for me!! I thought both POVs were handled so well and I enjoyed the amount of time we spent with the characters' friends. The hockey culture was real and what we got of the sport was so good. I thought Seattle was represented really well and I liked that we still spent time in the queer scene with Lucy's friends and didn't just go straight to WAG life.
Black cat x golden retriever is a trope that was getting pretty oversaturated in romance but I really liked this one. I love a book with such focus on mental health and on the characters supporting each other's journeys rather than just trying to fix everything for each other.

The content made me kinda 🥴 at times because this week has been tough but I enjoyed(?) almost all the stories. The writing and narration was well done, and almost every story I wanted more 😂
Real Men Knit by Kwana Jackson

I really like this one but I think it's a better novel if it's longer or if editing changed the pacing. I really did not like the grand gesture at the end and don't think it really made sense for the characters.
The Nightmare Before Kissmas by Sara Raasch

This was laugh out loud funny at parts and the holidays as kingdoms fighting capitalism was clever. This book took a couple serious themes and blended them into camp in a way that was fun to read
The Secret History by Donna Tartt

This was a bit of a slog at times but I do think it's supposed to be. I wish there's been less time spent wondering what had happened and being confused with the main character but I think it nailed the academic snobbery
