i’ve never cried at a book before, but silver flames really did it for me. i see so much of myself in nesta, in how she carries herself and how she heals throughout the book. her earlier character traits in the series reminds me so much of me before therapy, and this book reminds me so much of my own recovery—of learning that i am deserving of love and support and forgiveness. mist and fury was definitely my favorite of the series, but i have to give this five stars because of what it made me feel. nesta archeron you are so special to me!!!
did not expect the nesta alcoholism arc like. at all. but otherwise i loved seeing the group in a cute christmas-y setting, exchanging gifts and drinking wine deep into the night. although i do understand that nesta is healing from the Literal War she never wished to be a part of i didn’t feel like it made a lot of sense to be so distant from her sisters, especially after their father’s death. other things i liked: feyre’s eye tattoos being changed to match the velaris crest was SO heartwarming!!!! elain and azriel interactions are so gentle i love them!!! and the cake she made feyre for her birthday 🥹!!! also the sex scene towards the end 🫣🥵 but what i loved most is feyre becoming an art teacher for young fae struggling after the war it’s so good to see her healing in that way and showing others to do the same. so excited to meet their kid in the next book <3
one of the character’s arcs throughout this short book deals with alcoholism in a mild way; they distance themselves for the majority of the book, hence the abandonment tag
Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

the third book in the acotar series; it was so good!!! books centered around war aren’t usually my style but with this cast of characters, it was a beautiful tale of hope, determination, sacrifice, and recovery. nesta and elain becoming part of the gang made me so happy!! i loved seeing elain’s development and nesta’s fierceness, and the foreshadowing for nesta and cassian throughout the story. ALSO MORRIGAN BI ICON?!?! no wonder she was my fave from the start. the end chapter from rhysand’s perspective was so cute and charming. on another note, i feel like maas sometimes writes these epic sacrificial moments then immediately saves the situation, which i feel can be a bit of a cop-out to a beautiful sacrifice fitting for a book about war. other than that i had a great time reading this and im so excited for the holiday cheer of frost and starlight <3
god this was SOOOO much better than the first book! i tore through 600 pages in two flights and a few extra hours. rhysand i love you. feyre and rhysand are meant to be together like truly destined. i LOVE slow burn despite how painful it is bc i just want them to be Together but the pacing was so delicious. and the ENDING? what a twist; truly i was on the edge of my seat. i’m getting the next book in about a week and i can’t wait to start it! feyre kinda annoyed me at times but she’s traumatized so I Get It. i also appreciated how they address feyre’s trauma from Under the Mountain; it’s very realistic to her situation.
i don’t think this is mid by any means but i wouldn’t give it a 4 either? i love fantasy and i love romance so this was a great combo! i think the ending was a bit predictable and twilight breaking dawn-y but otherwise i enjoyed it; it’s very fun but also mildly spicy so certain parts i do not recommend reading next to your mom on a plane ride like i did. regardless, i’m excited for the next book! i bought it before i even finished the first one :) i’ve heard even better things about it!!! edit: the first book of the series is definitely my lowest rated but was still very enjoyable!
i love sci fi!!!!!! and FUNGAL HORROR!!!! what!!!!! i ate it up like munch munch munch. the worldbuilding is so interesting and i feel jeff depicts the psychotic break of each of the characters so well and they all felt pretty realistic. i love that we get glimpses into the mc’s life back home and her relationship with her husband as well! i felt that the climax was very well done and i was absolutely enthralled by this book; i couldn’t put it down!!!
all this to say, i have not read the sequels nor do i really plan to? i feel it’s amazing as a standalone book!
overall a short, super interesting read!!
