Just didn't gel with this book. Found the characters very unlikeable and the plot to be a bit bland in places.
If the sectioning of the book had been different and focused on different parts at different times, perhaps I would have enjoyed it more.
I just found Elizabeth and Mad so annoying. And 630 seemed lovely and you'd think I'd love a dog character, but I found his stream of consciousness to be really strange!
I liked the bits about the show and I liked hearing about Elizabeth and Calvin.
It felt like the story could have ended when Elizabeth left the show. The ending was nice but did feel forced.
Overall, just not my cup of tea and didn't live up to the hype for me!
Enjoyable story. Lovable characters. Loved seeing the relationship grow between Ghost Benji and Florence when Florence was in her home town. Even when there wasn't hope for them.
The ending had me grinning, I'm so glad it worked out the way it did.
Spoiler wrapping so I can write without thinking about it
We follow Emma and Dexter on July 15th every year from the day day they first met. I was rooting for them from the beginning and really grew to care about them as characters. The characters were lovable, but not necessarily likeable at times. But that makes them more human.
I enjoyed the mixed narrative of both of their stories when they were apart and the way they interlinked or didnt interlink. When they had fallen out, the alternate chapters without mention of the other worked really well.
The sigh of relief I felt when they finally got together and the happy fuzzy feeling I felt reading about their time together was so lovely!
DAVID HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO US.
I felt desperately sorry for Dexter in the final chapters. It was a privilege watching him mature into the person we see towards the end if the book. I wish him and Emma had more time together.
Admittedly, wasn' the hugest fan of Dexter ending up with the girl from the bisto. Him not ending up with anyone in the book timeline would have felt more honest to the storyline. The bistro girl made it feel too rushed!
AND THE LETTER HE WROTE HER AT THE BEGINNING! My God, if he had sent it and admitted to his feelings and told her how much he loved her, their whole entire story would have been so different.
A fun dystopian story (which is a weird combination!).
Leo and Hannah navigate life in an abandoned Houston after everyone mysteriously disappeared.
I enjoyed the book and the premise around it. Although I found the ending a bit strange.
It felt like there was too much time spent in the real world after Leo and Hannah had woken up. It felt somewhat anticlimatic. It didn't feel like enough happened after such a gripping beginning and middle.
