this was cute!! a little horror thriller about a girl in like parallel universe (or maybe future?) Edinburgh who talks to ghosts for her job and tries to save the/her world too. very creepy and spooky and magical. the writing was really personable and Ropa’s personality really shown through it.

tbh i’m not really sure what role the library even served in this actually but maybe we’ll see where that goes in the next book :)

Memorable quotes include “God is a dickhead” and “Choke me Daddy”, dont forget “Hi, I’m not fucking dead, I’m Dad”, also who can forget the references to none pizza left beef, that S everyone drew in elementary school, eminem and evanescense. I seriously lost my mind.

And within the same 500 pages she also gave us lines like “Love is a revenant” and how love is keeping an old note…
What a study in grief.

I’m not even sure how to react normally to this book. I fell in love with it and I can’t get it out of my head. Absolutely incredible. Delicious. I read this book like coming home to a lover at the end of a long day. Half of the time I felt too stupid to understand anything and my brain hurt so bad but I want to continue to pick this whole tapestry of scifi insanity apart throughout time bc wow theres so much here

I spent so much of this book like that gif of charlie day’s pepe silvia freak out

Also spoilers but oh my god i forgot how much i loved gideon i cant do this series without her please have them both live but mostly gideon i love her so dearly

i liked this one better than the first! the mystery and unsolved questions about the Alanga and their history really help keep the story interesting and aloft. i liked Lin better in this one too. the theme of trying not to become your parents is really moving. im not so sure ragan was the strongest character or really all that important but its nice to get new characters. im excited for book 3!

1. i still love manon shes my favorite. very morgana esque and im a morgana apologist
2. also loved lysandra. my statement is this: she and aelin had more chemistry than rowan and aelin. chaol and dorian too. i stand by this
3. im not sooo convinced making the king like "not actually evil" worked. yeah yeah he was controlled and stuff but it was weird. good for dorian coming in w the kill
4. loving elide and hoping for that family reunion soon
5. nothing like getting your wisdom teeth out and then having to quarantine for possible covid for reading time lol

"It is not such a hard thing is it -- to die for your friends" -Dorian, pg 594

same vibes as gandalf and pippin in minas tirith:
"White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise." "Well, that isn't so bad." "No. No, it isn't."

or legolas and gimli:
"Never thought I'd die fighting side by side with an elf."
"What about side by side with a friend?"
"Aye. I could do that."
