I did like the first two books a bit more. In Reckless Chance, we get Lowri and Sean as the main characters. They are the best friends to Cassie and Evan (the main characters in the first book, Rival Secrets). There are sparks between these two. The plot was interesting. Lowri and Sean accidentally got married in Vegas (obviously alcohol was involved). The Sean find out he could lose the Athena, the hotel/casino that he owns, if they annul too quickly. There is an accidental death involving a show in the Athena. However, it turns out it may not be an accident and there were other minor accidents involved with the show that Sean did not know about. There are lots of issues going on. The majority of the chapters are nice and short making this story a quick read. Overall, I did enjoy the story.

Seeley “Doc” Whiskey’s story has always been talked about but not talked about since the start of this series. I’m so happy that he has his story told in Love, Lies, & Whiskey.

Juliette has been the girl that Doc always loved but was also heartbroken by how their teenage love ended. This story starts off with a twist within 5% of the book! I mean wow. You’re just like, wait did I read what I thought I just read. Once the initial shock of seeing each wears off, the chemistry between Doc and Juliette just reignites. I loved reading Doc and Juliette get their second chance. How Doc patiently wait and continues to show up for Lucas even when the teenager acts just as stubborn as Doc. The found family of Whiskeys and Dark Knights show to Juliette and Lucas that Doc is truly there for them.

The title of this book is 100% accurate for their story. You can read Love, Lies, & Whiskey as a standalone but you appreciate the story even more knowing all the characters and their stories. Callahan “Cowboy” Whiskey is my absolute favorite in the Whiskey family and Doc almost had Cowboy beat. Oh man. This story will enrapture your heart, tear you up, and make you chuckle. Love, Lies, & Whiskey is another gem by Melissa Foster. I will definitely reread this story again.

The Way We Collide follows Hendrix Bradford, professional football player, and meteorologist storm chaser, Raven Gale. They meet at a wedding and spend a hot and heavy night. This surprise baby, marriage of convenience, Football/sports romance will capture your heart. I loved how cute Haddy and Hendrix are together. The first time he experiences changing a diaper is just too funny. I was dying. I was just chortling and had to wipe tears from my eyes. The way Hendrix loves Haddie (after the initial shock wears off from finding out he’s a dad) just warms my heart. Reading Hendrix and Raven figuring out parenthood while falling in love will make you swoon.

Overall, I just had a great time reading The Way We Collide. You can read this as a standalone but truly appreciate all the characters if you read the rest of the series.

Stephanie Kay is a new to me narrator. Initial impression is that I’m impressed. I totally forgot it’s Duet!!! So, I was pleasantly surprised. Stephanie does a great job with all the different character voices. I absolutely love her voice for Haddie and Kimmie.

Aaron Shedlock narrates as Hendrix and the male characters. The high pitched voice he uses when talking to Haddy had me chuckling. The first time he experiences changing a diaper is just too funny. You can feel their emotions with the voice changes in tone and pitch.

Overall, I just had a great time reading The Way We Collide. You can read this as a standalone but truly appreciate all the characters if you read the rest of the series.

Cinderella and her villain

Teddy Hamilton as Doctor Jackie Kincaid opens up the book at a Halloween costume party. However, he didn’t realize it was a costume party. He was able to get a quick costume from the host as a vampire then runs into Cinderella. That first chapter is fire but also leaves you with your mouth agape, possibly cackling, at the end.

Samantha Brentmoor narrates as Wren Fritz. Wren is disguised as Cinderella. The problem? Jack is her older brother’s best friend. The next problem? Jack just took her virginity. When Jack and Wren realize who’s behind the masks/costumes, Jack is hesitant but Wren seduces him. That scene is hot. You experience Wren’s feelings by how Samantha narrates towards the end of the second chapter.

I appreciate the different voices for each character. I got lost in the story and caught on the love to hate each other. The section with the Fritz gals text messaging?! Samantha seamlessly changes her voice for each character. They had me cackling.

Jack has a dirty mouth. Whoa. The TEXT MESSAGES!!!! There are so many good lines that I can’t wait to highlight in a book!
