Average contemporary romance with some laughable moments. It’s not terrible, slightly cheesy, and the spice is alright. Overall not the worst rom-com.

The male MC was kinda boring, and his only redeeming quality was how hot he was.

Nanomi was funny, reliable and over all had the best character development.

The underlying plot of her sister Tina was weird and not really relevant? She disappeared most of the book and the random came back in but only to further the male MC’s character arch of being the hero.

The “Daze” nickname lowkey annoyed me.

Blindsided

Amy Daws

DID NOT FINISH: 46%

The first sentence was “Crikey, I want a pony” and I should’ve stopped there.

Crikey was said 3 times before 100 pages.

Naughty bits was used and that alone should’ve been enough and then the MC said “creamy white legs” and I lost it.

The terrible attempt at writing a MC with a Scottish accent.

Reading this book third really gave valuable insight into the person Celaena became and how/why she is the way she is. My heart broke for Celaena and everything that seems to get ripped from her. I’m excited to see some of these characters from the mini novellas get entered the main storyline.

I personally don’t think it matters when this book is read.
  • Read it first to have background information before reading the rest of the ToG series.
  • Read anytime time before Queen of Shadows for emotional, heartstring pulling story that adds depth to Celaena’s character.
