I got a little bored mid way through this book and didn’t find myself super invested in either characters. It’s a cute read, great for breaking up a series or to bring on vacation.

The info dump wasn’t the worst part—the part after the info dump was. There’s quite a lull between the massive amount of information (that you won’t retain) and the last 200-page rapid-fire reveal, which is where this book almost lost me.
Did this slow burn murder mystery series started need to be 800 pages – no. I am in agreement that this could be a standalone. I’m torn on when to start book two. I feel like I need an extended break, but I’ll forget absolutely everything—other than the fact that we got robbed of Bryce and Hunt’s slow-burn payoff.

Imagine they turned a season of your mother’s favorite daytime soap opera into a book - this book specifically. The pacing is quick, barely giving you time to process the toxic hot mess express you’re on. Kat and Heath’s tension, passion, and chemistry were so good that I didn’t mind the author favoring closed-door spice. Their relationship drives much of the story, but the rest of the characters only add fuel to the toxic dumpster fire that is their love/hate dynamic.
I was hooked even before they started dropping bomb after bomb—I nearly tripped died on the StairMaster because I was that invested.
This was my first literary fiction read, and honestly, I wasn’t sure I could trust the Insta girlies who raved about it in their stories.

Charissa is actually trying to kill me, and I’m here for it. This might just be one of the best slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers books I’ve ever read. Neri’s pining is so well written, paired with his sassy attitude that I almost combusted. Nephele is better than me in every way because I fear I would’ve folded far sooner. Everything about this book was chef’s kiss—10/10, bury me six feet under with it.
“Because I fear he might be the greatest personification of every weakness I’ve ever had when it comes to men” - Nephele at 33% and girl, same.
While this book is much shorter than the rest of the series, it helps answer a few important plot points from book two while still furthering the overarching plot of the series.
note: this books are not on kindle unlimited (big sad).

Do you ever finish a book and go, “I guess that was alright but I don’t know if I really enjoyed it…”.
This book takes place during the start of COVID lockdown where you meet Sally and then eventually four other women whom all ☠️ their husbands due to domestic abuse. I think I was hoping for a more humorist thriller, and got a really sobering, very realistic in slightly into a heavy topic.
While the buildup held my attention, I was left wanting more—more payoff, more excitement, or maybe just a stronger resolution. At times, I felt like I was waiting for something bigger to happen, but when it finally did, it didn’t quite land the way I hoped. Additionally the odd POV switches were off putting.
Graphic: Domestic abuse, Emotional abuse, Murder
Moderate: Death, Domestic abuse, Emotional abuse, Toxic relationship, Murder, Pandemic/Epidemic

Are you looking for a romance that makes you forget you’re on the stair master for 40 minutes? Need a new book boyfriend to unhealthily obsess over? Meet Hunter Ellis. You’re welcome; that’s the review.
•Hopeless and utterly in love with her MMC – says “mine” a whole lot
•Guarded FMC
•Fake dating
•Second-chance romance
•Short-lived third-act breakup
•Happy ending
•Available on Kindle Unlimited (KU), as are most of her contemporary romances.
I say this with my whole chest: Rebecca Yarros could write a romance between a worm and a rock, and I’d read it immediately and rate it 5 stars. Her contemporary romances are slept on.

This book ate, devoured, and left no crumbs; I consumed it in six hours. Outside of the obvious reasons to love this book (the cowboys), Wes has mega golden retriever vibes. Saying things like, “You’re the moon, and I am the tides. You pull me in without even trying, and I come to you willingly. I always will.”
Full transparency, I only read this book because I am desperate to read Teddy’s, which is book three. However, Ava and Wes had stellar banter and funny one-liners that had me laughing and smiling the entire time.
All of this to say, if your thing is cowboy romances this interconnected series is 100% written for you.

The first 20–23% of the book is a massive, yet important, info dump. Will you be confused? Yes. Will it all make sense by the end of the book? Yes…maybe?
So strap in—because from 40% onward, the book takes you on a wild rollercoaster of schemes, emotions, and the usual effort to stop an evil entity from taking over and starting an all-out war. I needed about 0.8 seconds to pick my jaw up off the floor before purchasing book three. This series has me in a consensual chokehold, and I will be utterly distraught when I finish book three since book four release date is tbd.
