“In my multifold years of life, I have learned that most people get along as best they can. They don’t intend to hurt anyone. It is merely a terrible by-product of surviving.”

Decided to add this book as the availability into my bookshelf last week— as I also need another historical fiction to read later on. The story floats around two girls in the family on Mississippi 1939. I found many dictions that lead to evil and good definition in human, that I believe it’s too cracky to use. They also provided us a metaphor about triggers; as if the strike ignites gunpowder and sends a projectile spinning down a rifle barrel. That makes me thinking somehow not all the white is pure and black is dark?

In the other hand, I also read another book as I inferred some phrases that I read. It’s similar with what i found in Hobbes’ theory— we as human beings always have choice, like John Kramer said: “free will.” Wecan choose to be good or bad, in everything we do, over anything, over anytime. And it all were driven by fear; a perpetual of restless desire of power. But it’s always entitled as product-surviving, it leans closely to a trauma projecting for me, not the utmost, just some of it. We aren’t a damage of our lives or people mistreating us, right? The ‘fear’ feeling and thought came from that experience.

However, like the title of this book—it will guide you for the change, the melancholy revolution, of human might experience and how that proves their lives in the most unexpected ways. Not just by themselves, but everyone around them as well. Like family, friends, and their behaviours to treat others.

“How can someone do this to another human being? He wonders if for the rest of his life, be it short or long, he will be defined by this moment, this irregular number: 32407.“

This is a whole story about tragic love from two parts of the world in WWII. I’ve read another book that has quite similar plot with this— All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr—the camp called Auschwitz somewhere in Deutschland with people from France. You will find many crucial numbers, events, places, and tragedies in this book. The tattooist in the title remain a huge influence of survival in the world back then.

The Tattooist of Auschwitz is a book about loss, survival, and love. Despite the exact war that happened during that time, I more lean into romance story between Lale and Gita. It’s so beautifully written with simple language usage. I didn’t find lot of thesaurus of poem in this book which makes this book floats easily as I was turning the page. Otherwises, this is so clichè (do I allow to say this?) which actually the story can be wider and deeper if they want to make it more poetic in their climax. Overall, I recommend all WWII background enthusiast to add this book on their shelves!

“When an old person dies, even if that person is wonderful, he or she is still somewhat ready, and so are the people who loved them. They’re like old trees, whose roots have loosened in the ground. They fall gently. But when someone like your aunt Sylvie dies—before her time—her roots get pulled out and the ground is ripped up. Everyone nearby is in danger of being knocked over.”

I’ve been put my card on the line of this book for months—of how this book was anticipated in everywhere all the time, which lead me to have a very high expectation towards this book. But I don’t know why, it was out of my expectations, or probably.. I just haven’t in urgency to read this book right now?

The story remind me of Little Women bu Louisa May Ascott, the conversation between Jo and Laurie, the sisterhood, women empowerment, etc. But, that’s it. It’s like the American version of that. I almost lost my focus to dig into the story each time I turn the page. If you need a lighthearted books with many characters at once, this book might be written for you.

“We are all a little broken. We are a mosaic. We’re made up of all those we’ve met and all the things we’ve been through. There are parts of us that are colorful and dark and jagged and beautiful. And I love every piece of you. Even the ones you wish didn’t exist.”

What will come to your mind if you think about the seven wonders that existed in our world? How the broken pieces cracked it to love someone as a whole?

This is how this book about. You will find many sad-longing phrases to make it like spark of hope while you are looking at shooting stars. It's like a magicless glimpse into the nature of love, what it means to be unwell, and how to face the fractures of yourself and still love as it you are not broken. The story is soft-crack and safe, that immediately lead you to the home sweet home ambience as you wouldn't turn your page down. Yours truly comes as a warm gift in Christmas under snowflakes fall to the earth.

Oh! Even if it’s sequel of another book (Part Of Your World, if I am not mistaken) I haven’t read it but I still can dig in the story along the way. :3

I guess humans like to watch a little destruction; sand castles, houses of cards, that’s where they begin. Their great skill is their capacity to escalate.”

Picking up this book from the line of my library after several time I digged myself into historical fictions... and I would say, this book really speak volume for the little genre's scale into young adult. This book is so detailed and have many small specific events in each time part of the book. I was occupied while reading this but I still can get into the story ever more.

The Book Thief is a book about a survival of hidden history in Germany. For example, they stated some facts about Stalingrad: (1) in 1942-1943, in that city, the sky was bleached bedsheet-white; (2) as they carried the souls across it, that sheet was splashed with blood, until it was full and bulging to the earth; (3) in the evening, it would be wrung out and bleached again. They showed us how evil intention came right from human even from the dark and carbon of water. The iconic main character that was coming from a child make this book become more special. Not my best read for historical fiction, but still worth the hyped!

There are so many subtle ways we women subconsciously protect ourselves throughout the day; protect ourselves from shadows, from unseen predators. From cautionary tales and urban legends. so subtle, in fact, that we hardly even realize we’re doing them.”

This book sorta remind me of The Notebook? Gone Girl? Or any kind of romance story with tragic plot that makes this book so unique. As this story came from thriller, I expected lot of detective cases but turn out it’s whole grudges and how we protect our loved ones that keep in the memorials for a long time looks like.

A Flicker In The Dark, like its name, it’s how we see the little spark among the endless hallway. How the deep love that comes as seeing our beloved every day makes us happy, can turn into whole evil nightmare. I wasn’t really into the character and make me want to re-read this someday if I have time. If you are looking for the detail cases of murder, you probably would never find it in here. But if you love something like psychological thriller (Haunting of Hill House) it probably will your highest forté!

“The day before was nothing special. It was special only because of how unspecial it was, or perhaps by how unspecial it would very soon become. things were always stranger in retrospect, which was a funny little consequence of time.”

Found this book firstly in between my shelf and heard almost everyone around me talked about it— before I decided to put my hold on the line to read each page of it. Based on its title, my first impressions of this book was sorta kind like; `Wedding Tomorrow You,’ as it lead us The Ether or the holy places on the altar, to the science-fiction phrases that make this book sound more tragically unrequited love happening at its core. As I try to dig into it, I found it far away from that!

It's like a magicless glimpse into the nature of love, what it means to be unwell, and how to face the fractures of yourself and still love as it you are not broken. The story is soft-crack and safe, that immediately lead you to the home sweet home ambience as you wouldn't turn your page down. It's a little guide for us to find in the meaning of inner peace in between this crowded hazardous place. As what people used to believe the universe was filled with light needed to pass through something, only Einsten proved light can be particles, which don't need a medium to travel through. Ether was what they called the air in the realm of the gods, a shining, a fluid substance. Alone in everything. In time and space, in existence, in religion.

Alone With You in The Ether, like its name, is the story of how you let yourself be all alone with the love you cherish. It's a book about love, loss, and fighting those against it that come upon it all the same. It is a story that will teach us if this is what is to burn, then they will be worth more as scattered ash than any of my unscathed pieces. It also showed us for some reasonable disguises how toxic relationship works based on mental clinical issues, as we learn how to face it and deal with it with other people. Two cupids with their arrow from the east and west coast to find each other. It will be a little magical thing that laid on your mind for more decades later. If you are looking for the sacrifice of life-time to make it works for the whole flowers pathway, then I really recommend this book for you.
