I found the book to be slow, and I had such high hopes for it and was kind of with how the story progressed.

It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t let a fire in me and I wasn’t interested in reading it at a later time so I pushed through it just to get it over with.

It was OK, but not a reread, unlike the first book!

Where is a sequel that I was really wanting to read afterwards it was OK.

I definitely should’ve just stuck with reading the first book and call it a day, but I am glad that they do have the continued aspect of their relationship, adding with the factor of the nephew.

But for me, this was just a meh!

Way better than what I expected and a very quick read.

I was definitely hooked with the aspect of the not treating because the assumptions were crazy and I would definitely understand her problem With everything that went on in college.

I still think Glenn’s reason for wanting to continue with the pledge were valid and also he does not deserve a redemption arc nor a continued friendship.

Because that is a very crazy thing to do to your so-called best friend and business partner of many many years!

This was a very emotional roller coaster for me. I started this book the end of last year and then picked it back up to continue reading it from where I left off.

This is a very emotional story for the characters. We got to see them come together as flawed as they were and tell each other why they were the way they are or wouldn’t let them to this life. Jack story was very touching and I really do feel for Tor and his first love.

The cheating did hurt me, especially when Jack saw everything and what he did afterwards. Those following sequences were very hard to read. Then the follow up of the confrontation and I guess what everyone who I can see the future past that negative event. It wasn’t until we found out the more that I was like oh no…Tornado you are done.

And although I do like a gravel and he did gravel somewhat, but Jack was just not hearing it not seeing not wanting to be around and it was very cordial. I knew in my heart that they belong together if they just talked about things that were left unsaid in the beginning of the event.

Now I’m going to read the sequel!

This definitely lost me when the friend who did not like her husband and husband liked her husband and called it out for what it was when she thought what was gonna happen happen, basically to work it out with him.

Then on top of that her own parents were opps!

Like what do you mean maybe she’ll a lean to forgive him because they had!! That does not make any kind of sense!

When the ice on the cake for me was when she didn’t opt out of being the lawyer because of conflict of interest!

Like, would you really want your lawyer to be the wife of the man you had an affair with and is having his only child because the wife can’t get pregnant! Like what?!!

Overall, not a good time for me!

Although this isn’t one of my top favourite books from Sam, I did enjoy reading this.

There were some very shocking moments that I was very surprised by and I didn’t see coming.

And if there is another two books in the series that features one couple in particular, I would read it because I really wanna know if what he did to her was blackmail or real feelings.

Then, if there’s a book with Hex as the love interest, I really wanna know what kind of unsuspecting heroine will be attached to him for life. He is so unhinged and I just love him. I want a book with him maybe even if it’s like MM but I just wanna book with his love interest.

I think the past was really good to set the tone but once you get to the present or the now of the story, it happened over a span of 3 to 4 days and it just wasn’t enough for me.

I found that some of the drama still wasn’t resolved for the ending that it had, especially with her birth mother. I don’t know if that was a one off, cause it did surprise me, or if that was how she was going to stand up for everything that woman put them both through.

I was very happy that Theodore was the way he was in the end of the book and he learned once he left the bubble of his town. But other than that, I just kind of wish that it was longer, and we had more of a resolution.

Also their consequence of their actions, didn’t really have a huge fall out like I thought it was gearing up for. It was almost like a letdown once everything was out of the bag.

But for how fast I read it, I did enjoy it!

For what it was and how short it was, this was good.

I didn’t really get too invested in the characters because of how short it was, but it was enough to where I was laughing at some of the stuff that he was doing to win her back and enough to feel sympathetic to her.

Wow!!! Though I was waiting for the other couple of shoes to drop and having that anticipation of it while also realising that things were going. Nico‘s way was great. My stomach had butterflies and then the sinking sensation of the shoes dropping one after another was even more.

This was really really good. I’m also glad that we got to see the consequences of his actions and the actions of the people in his circle. I’m also glad that we got to see Nico rise to the occasion and be that person that Felix needed.

You can definitely tell that Felix was in a I hate you because I like you bag and it was so fun to see him realise and work through it. Wow, Nico not liking the situation that they created it but knowing that this is the foot in the door to getting to finish line of how he would like it to be.

I also love the Felix clause! I am so ready for more from Scarlett and I cannot wait for the next book! We definitely recommend this but Hamartia is still my favourite!

So yes, this was almost typical of what I would think a second chance, single mother, rockstar romance would be.

With just a few slight surprises that I wasn’t expecting, maybe because I wasn’t looking for a warning signs of certain things. But still wondering how we were going to address the very big single mother factor.

But I do think that it was a great drop moment when it became clear what was going on.

For me, the reason why it’s not higher because there wasn’t enough drama leading up to it and after it. Yes we did get the drama of the finding out and what to do afterwards, but it seemed like everything was kind of cookie cutter shaped, and you just placed the cookie in it.

And maybe it’s because I was expecting a bit more angst when it comes to this type of specific tropes but it just didn’t hit it for me.

I was surprised that I did like how Vince handled the situation and even though he was very staunch in the beginning of his feelings about this certain trope, he was very hands-on and went above, especially the first meeting.

So would I read this again? No.
But would I recommend it to a contemporary friend?  Yes.
