Wreck & Ruin by Emma Slate
4.0
I adored this book. It was incredibly fast-paced and made the reader feel like they were a part of the furious energy that was embodied in these characters. Mia is a toughie who takes no shit and tries so hard to not need anyone but really craves connection after losing so many people over and over again. And Colt is the mirror of that. Instead of shutting down - he lives larger than life as a MC president and a - maybe - a criminal. (This is also the only time I have enjoyed a book with only one perspective...)
While this book isn’t earth-shattering prose that will change the world it has a great set of side characters (I am dying for a book about Boxer or Ramsey! I mean I would take a prequel novella about Gray and Darcy too!) and great chemistry between the mains. And while there is heat in the bedroom scenes it isn’t overly graphic. I wish there had been a scene with them finally riding a motorcycle together... but I don't think there was time...
I will say that this was a pretty violent story and readers who are sensitive to that should not partake. There was gunplay and crude language about and towards women but all mentions of violence towards women were in the abstract and not on the page.

Nate by C.M. Marin

Camryn hasn’t been to her hometown since her parents' tragic deaths in a car accident but after the death of her fiance, she decides it is time to face her past. Nate never expected to meet a gorgeous woman over pancakes or for her to set his world on its head. Or for her to be the cause of a turf war between his motorcycle club and the psychos across town.
I have been exploring the at times murky world of MC romance lately - and this was definitely a good find! (And it is KU so if you have that it is affordable!) Camryn at first seemed timid and sensitive and sad - and she is - but her strength and love are strong. And she is a fighter in her own right and it was fun as a reader to watch her grow into that.
Nate is a great lead! He fights his own tendency to be overbearing and overwhelming and lets Cam call the shots on their relationship. Even going so far as to let her - potentially - break his heart. He balances protective and possessive well and doesn’t turn into an alphahole.
I am a habitual read in order person so I started at the beginning of Chaos Chasers (and am now on book two!) I would suggest starting here - you get an introduction to the rest of the cast of characters - but It doesn’t seem like a requirement. The bedroom scenes are lovely - a great balance of steam and tenderness and not overly graphic. There is some gunplay and danger and alluded to violence but for the most part it isn’t on the page. There also seems like a rape but there is not one (sorry I felt like that was an important spoiler for some.)

Liam by C.M. Marin
5.0
Liam was immediately drawn to the pretty, petite redheaded nurse when she was helping his sister heal from her wounds. So when he has to start driving to Phoenix to see her - he has no problem doing that. Liam is everything that Erin’s parents would never approve of - a biker, uneducated and definitely not Catholic but despite her misgivings about his finding someone like her fascinating and without her parents' blessing - she revels in her love for Liam. Until they are ripped apart.
This was by far my favorite (just squeaked by Jayce and Alex). The angst! THE ANGST! It is so worth it for their wickedly hot love scenes and their deep love for each other. Erin is also one of my favorite kinds of heroines - sweet and kind and marshmallow on the outside but a backbone of steel on the inside. Liam is also not an alphahole at all and does one stupid thing and actually knows it is a stupid thing to do! There is also a great minor storyline of judgment by people without getting to know someone and the cost of the fallout of that.
I am eagerly awaiting Blane and Melvin’s stories coming up in the future.
