Y’all I am here to tell you that Una is a total boss bitch. I really loved her character. She had some really tough living circumstances, including, but not limited to, having no family, no legal source of income, and a physical disability. But did any of that stop her from boss-bitching ALL OVER THE PLACE? No it did not. She was kind and smart and tough and protective and determined and brave. I want Una to be my mate.
I felt like the progression of her relationship with Killian was authentic and she did an amazing job of sticking to her beliefs and taking a stand even while realizing she cared deeply for him. Is that considered a spoiled in a romance novel? Like we all know most of them end in HEAs right?
I also really loved Killian’s inner monologue and his very gradual but, again, very authentic growth. Each moment that he understood a new facet of Una was so exciting and then he would have other thoughts that clearly showed he still had so much to learn. But then he just continued to learn! It was fun.
Idk if this was supposed to be a light read but it felt that way to me, in spite of the definite angst of Una’s situation (at several different points). I just really enjoyed it and was not overly bummed at any point although I did get teary eyed at least once.
I was thoroughly surprised to have enjoyed this as much as I did and I’m hoping the next one is the same! 🤞
