Dragon Den by Kriss Dean

Did not finish book. Stopped at 25%.
I requested this book on Netgalley as soon as I read the blurb and it sounded so promising! Sadly Dragons Den missed on so many marks for me.

I ended up DNFing at 25%.

Dragon Den jumps pretty quickly straight into the action and from there on it seems to never stop. There was sadly little to no world building which just left me with more questions then answers. Books are sometimes slower are require you to keep going to gain information so often I do push through but I just felt with what I had read so far this was not going to be the case.

Dragon Den reads more like a draft than a completed novel and I believe that if it went through more rounds of editing it would be an awesome read.

Cole and Laila Are Just Friends was such a cute friends to lovers story.

It’s not often that I read a book I find to be just fine but this one fits in that box.

There’s was nothing I didn’t like or disagree with about it but there wasn’t anything that made me really like it either.

Just a nice, easy story about friendship! Would totally recommend as a summer/autumn vacation read.

Sadly, this book was just not for me.

I usually love anything true crime related and I did really like the storyline for Dead Girls Talking but the lack of characters with any kind of depth or likeable qualities made this a hard read.

I would also like to note that while I to do read YA and middle grade books occasionally, I feel that If I were to have read these books when I was in that age bracket I probably would have loved this.

I will still definitely be keeping my eyes out for any future Megan Cooley Peterson titles!

This has to be one of my favourite covers for a book ever! So vibrate and cute! Perfectly represents the main trope of the story being forced proximity.

While this was a fun and easy read, I unfortunately did find that the chemistry was lacking between the two MCs but regardless 3.5 STARS!

Looking forward to reading Lizzy Dent’s future stories!

Ever since reading Curse of Sins, I’ve been in such a reading slump because I just feel like nothing else could compare.

Curse of Saints was such an unexpected top read for me least year, so much that Sins made its way straight to the top of my 2024 anticipated list and I screamed at 3AM when the ARC showed on my kindle. I’ve read it maybe 3 times now.

I already loved Aya and Will’s story so much and Sins just solidified that love more. Seeing their relationship with themselves and each other grow to new levels made me so happy.

I also loved that Aidan and Josie remained integral characters in the story and took up space in the book. Can’t wait to see their stories unfold more in the next instalment!

The pacing and maturity level felt more natural in Sins compared to Saints which I hope to see continue.

This book is definitely the most unique fantasy/horror book I’ve ever read.

Main perspective is from a shapeshifting amorphous lump who is consider a monster by the locals.

I don’t really have much to say on this story other than it was such a delight to read. It truly is a great mix of charming and creepy, tender hearted at times and a little funny at others (kissing and cannibalism).

I do think it would be hard to run around and recommend this to just anyone like I want to but I kind of love that this sweet little hidden gem exists in the world of stories and when I do find those who enjoy this kind of vibe, Someone You Can Build a Nest In will be the first.
