Raven's Blood by Cassandra Lawson

Raven's Blood was had a really refreshing twist on a vampire love story. I enjoyed the dystopian part of the book kind of like 28 days later meets twilight with a wood nymph thrown in.

the only reason i haven't given the book 5 stars is the dialogue and actions used between characters, sometimes i found it a bit immature and unrealistic. I thought at some parts no one mythical creature based on humans would speak or act like that but then some parts where fantastic, was a bit like dipping in and out of a Jackie Collins novel at some parts it made me cringe but only occasionally.

overall i really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone, its got a nice twist too...

So this book started out brilliant.... And then.... well i really couldn't understand the characters, and who was talking to who, i had to go back a few times and re-read paragraphs to understand who said what.

1. Faye, Her parents disappear and you feel her worry through the ceremony, then the moment she meets Jaxen and starts training she really doesn't seem to care. there is a part in the book where there is news of her parents but no one wants to tell her, she thinks to ask Mac at a meeting where she will receive punishment for a fight but doesn't get round to it. A normal person would demand that information first and foremost, not just poddle along all the time. How can this sap be a heroine.

2. Secondly she trusts this Mac character all the time... And he is the most useless character in the book. He keeps Vital information from her (her parents whereabouts) and many other things that played a part in the story but in all honesty couldn't understand what and why he kept it all a secret.

3. Faye and Jaxen Love was so overplayed, and each time they got intimate, someone would call, or walk in the room, or knock the door. Would you answer the phone in a situation like that?

4. Weldons character, again he is only one who put himself out twice to save Faye and she is told not to trust him.

there is an idea of shadow walking in this book which i thought was cool but other than that..........

So i thought the first book was good and couldn't put it down, this book i literally couldn't its 1 in the morning and i have been reading it straight for 5 hours........ this authors imagination is something else the characters are so well formed, i haven't read a book as good as this in ages...... I like how romance is creeping in slowly after we have got to know the characters, i love how one moment i am scared the next i'm infuriated then the plot thickens even more with a few revelations thrown in.... this is no ordinary vampire book, this book is a fantasy thrill ride ready to rock the imagination.....
