Getting through this book felt like a chore. I felt that as a fellow female Arkansan, I owed it to the author to finish this book. BUT I HAD TO DRAG MYSELF. It had such an interesting premise, but the Arkansas stuff was laid on thick. The only reason I knew any of the stuff being talked about was because I’m from here. And, don’t even get me started on all the stereotypes this book played into. Jesus, I think everyone lived in a trailer in this book. We only got some answers but not all. Just don’t bother.

The formatting of this book is so different that anything else I’ve ever read. They way it was told from multi POVs like a documentary was fascinating and very entertaining. You loved the characters but not cause they all sucked but you couldn’t dislike them (except Eddie) because they’re older reflecting on their time ya know? I really enjoyed this book.

Okay, so I get that the whole point was that the narrator is a dick. That’s fine – made me nauseous at points – but fine. However, the story went nowhere. There was zero dialogue. The main character can be garbage but you still care about the story. Not in this case.

This was a cute one. This served as my palate cleanser after an 8 book series, and it did its job well. I would have finished it much faster if my life wasn’t so busy (surgery rotation as a med student). It gave me the vibes I wanted from Practical Magic – modern Witchery, cozy, mundane everyday magic use.
Also, legit one of the best one line openers. Never mix vodka with witchcraft.

I am…not okay. This book was everything. One of the best fantasy finales and war fantasy novels. It was gory and bloody and depressing and the characters’ mental and physical exhaustion was so real. I inhaled this book, and I’m not sure how to say goodbye to these characters. I loved this series and these characters.
Also, I think Manon may have had one of the greatest character arcs.
Sad Nox and Aelin didn’t get a proper reunion though. Also RIP Gabriel and the thirteen I cried on a plane full of people, man.

I don’t understand the hate this one gets. You need Chaol’s story. It’s so necessary, and the Southern Continent is so interesting. PLUS YERENE FREAKING TOWERS.

Dear. God. So, the first part of the book I was ready to get things going. And, then things got GOING. The last 150 pages of this book had me in a choke hold. I was having to take a moment at some scenes. So many things I didn’t see coming, just one after the other. Oh my goooodddd. I think this has been the best one so far in the series.

Screaming. Crying. Throwing up. A fucking roller coaster man. I am DISTRAUGHT at the ending, and the only reason I’m not immediately jumping into the next one is I have to be up early tomorrow morning. Oh my god. The character arcs in this series have been insane, and I’m only at the half-way point!!

So, this is my least favorite so far. I did not read it first, and I stand by that decision. If you don’t already know Celaena, you don’t care. I was DRAGGING myself through the first three novellas. The last two picked up speed and ripped my heart out. I don’t recommend reading this first, but I do see it’s importance for her back story. But, I’m eager to get back to the main story.
