I’m giving this book a 4 stars, for now...
I kinda loved the characters and I want to keep the book on my shelves that’s why it gets a 4 but I don’t feel like it’s an overall 4.
The writing was good, plot was good, characters... good but there was something missing, I’m not quite sure what. I am looking forward to reading more from Linwood Barclay though :)

I liked this book at the beginning, it’s written so differently to what I’m used to and I was rather intrigued. We meet Joe a young man who works in a bookstore and he actually knows a thing or two about books and authors. I immediately liked him and his whit even though I knew he was the “stalker” I put the word stalker loosely because although I liked the character I wouldn’t call him a stalker, he defiantly started off that way but as the story continued he lost that creepy element.
I didn’t like any of the characters really other than Joe at the beginning and I got really bored at just over 100 pages in and wanted to DNF, but I went on hoping there would be some epic twist and end with a bang. Unfortunately that didn’t happen either, pretty typical ending and the whole book just wasn’t for me. A big let down 😐

I was half expecting to be let down by this book, I’ve tried multiple Detective series and I’ve only ever loved one and that’s The Robert Hunter series by Chris Carter. Others have been okay but never lived up to Carter, I also usually find myself being really disappointed in female lead detectives, in my opinion they’re rarely written well.
Well... Now You See Me by Sharon Bolton changed ALL of that, I’m already SO invested in this series I want buy all of her other books and read them all now because her writing was superb and that storyline... those twists... I’m not lying when I say she keeps you guessing until the VERY END. The suspense was killing me, it was just an epic story and I LOVE Lacey Flint as well as Joesbury. Oh and the fact there was a lot of Jack the Ripper references in there too was just the cherry on the top!
100% would recommend to any crime lovers out there just be warned that it is a very descriptive book when it comes to the crime scenes as well as there being a lot of mention throughout the book of sexual assault.
If you can stomach that then go pick up this amazing book!

This wasn't as good as Eeny Meeny but I feel the writing had improved. The plot didn't get interesting until near the end, it was a slow build up but I genuinely felt for the killer and was really sad on how it ended.
