I quit the book when he talked of abusing his dog as a child. Judgemental of me, but I don't want to read about a character who could hurt a dog.

I enjoy Bohjalian's writing, despite his books being dark. The backdrop to this one is WW II Germany, a horrific place. my question is why do we still use war to problem solve?

I enjoyed this book, I binge-listened to it. one of the touches I enjoyed most was the inclusion of native plant names in the scenery.

I turned to Trigiani for a light happy read. It is what it is, this type of book does not work it's way into my soul, but sometimes the soul needs to coast. now I am bored and will return to the complex.

I liked grandpa's theology. the Presbyterian predestination theology, as presented was wrong. l liked seeing the story from the view point of a young man figuring out how the world works and how it should work. his sense of humor was unrefined., and added a layer to the storytelling.
