The previos two Housemaid books weren't overly good, but at least they had suspense, a solid buildup and some good twists going for them. This book has none of that. How is Millie acting more immature in her 40s than she did in her 20s? Not that I was expecting any depth from the characters, but at least have them act like adults with common sense.
Anyways. The twists were painfully obvious and didn't really hit. I hated the whole "my neighbour is throwing herself at my husband because he's so attractive and every woman wants him" thing. The only good thing I can think of is that it's a quick and easy read at least. I pretty much couldn't care less about anything else, unfortunately.

If it is true that the full humanity of women is not our culture, then we can and must make it our culture.
A quick read that's straight to the point. Adichie breaks down the broad concerns and goals of feminism and makes a very big and often complicated topic very accessible (which unfortunately also results in a loss of nuance). I think this is best read as a first introduction to feminism.

Trotzdem empfehlenswert!

This book was MADE for me. I love how the table top role playing aspect was woven into the story, how tender Hollis's new friendships felt, how gentle and affirming the book in general was. Also – and I have no clue how Randall did that – the book captured something very real and honest about a first lesbian crush, it actually made me reminisce about my first queer awakening. Safe to say, the book which constantly reminded me about myself and my experiences really struck a cord with me.

Very wholesome and fun. I wish it'd discussed its topics in greater depth and with more variety -- but I also realize that this is not what this comic aims to be; it's a cute little collection of vignette-style comic strips and I appreciate that.

A well-rounded comedy-thriller! Here and there I had some minor issues with the novel (the plot became a tad convoluted and the whole "ghost" aspect felt disjointed), but overall I really enjoyed this read. A very particular yet strangely thought-provoking exploration of death, grief, and living.
