The narrator did an amazing job! Usually I prefer dual narration, but I never once even thought about it with this book. The voices for each character sounded different and were more than fitting, which made it a great listening experience. I’ll happily listen to the audiobook again during my reread and have just as much fun as the first time.

The magic system was something I haven’t read about before, and I really enjoyed it. It was interesting and had me hooked from the start! The same goes for the way the vampires were described (and how they “worked”). It gave me a feeling of “going back to the roots” of vampires with some aspects, which I loved.

I found the characters all very lovable. They had their own battles to fight and therefore weren't one dimensional, and their imperfections (even if they may initially be seen as annoying) made them all the more unique.
Raphael and Samara’s story was not only gripping, but had me squeaking and giggling - I love them, your honour!

The plot was never once boring and the pace wasn’t dragging on either. It was the right amount of fast-paced and a few “slower” scenes that had me sitting at the edge of my seat for pretty much the entire book.
This story is packed with twists, smaller and bigger ones. It was fun to speculate and see which parts of it came true and which ones didn't. (I listened to most of it while being in public, and boy was it a challenge to hold myself back with reactions. I definitely wasn't always successful xD.)

ABSB became my comfort (audio)book from the moment I started it. If you like a really good slow burn, a story full of magic and vampires with a unique plot, magic system and characters; ABSB is the perfect pic!

I'll be sitting here patiently (very impatiently) waiting for the next book.
So, brb I need to order the gorgeous hardcover edition of this book now!

He's the Dada who stepped up.🥹

Just when I thought I was done crying…. I cried again.

Everything in this book was so emotional and beautiful. Prolonging the book by listening to it over a few weeks made it feel even more real! May I introduce: my new comfort book.
The DETAILS and the found family in Becka's books make them so exceptionally special❤️🥹

I already miss them as if they were my own family haha

Just like the first part, I loved this book!

Reading (or listening to) Ruskin and Ella's story is not only emotional but also gripping with good twists, not all of which you can fully predict!
The story between just the two, and the conflicts that come with it, aren't repetitive but leave just enough of a mystery that you can't wait to find out more.

I'll continue with the third and sadly last book right after finishing this one now, and can't wait to see how their story ends!

Happy Release Day!

I loved this book! When I wasn't reading it, I was constantly thinking about it. I spent every free moment reading and I got sucked into a story that is not only emotionally deep (I cried more than just a few times) but also had wonderful characters and crazy twists!

Reading Jamie and Gavin's story was so deeply emotional for me. I could feel their love and emotions as if they were my own. It's safe to say I felt ALL the emotions haha, from wanting to throw my Kindle on the floor to crying to giggling, the whole spectrum.

I didn't know if, because of the time jumps at the beginning, I wouldn't be able to connect well with the characters. But that changed super quickly, once the scenes from their past were mostly over and I was hanging on to every word. Every character in this book had depth, was lovable, and the absence of miscommunication was the cherry on top for me!

The plot, Jamie and Gavin, the side characters and the shocking twists were exactly what it needed to keep me hooked until the very last page!
An amazing book and an author I'll definitely come back to <3

(NetGalley audiobook)

Thank you to NetGalley and all involved for this ARC copy I received!

I'm so happy I looked into the audiobook side of NetGalley and found this amazing book!
The cover and description is what made me start the book, and the beautiful narration and captivating story made me fly through this.

This was a refreshing Romantasy, with lots of surprises and a truly captivating ending to the first book! I had to pause what I was doing, to listen to the last minutes, just staring into nothing while covering my mouth haha.
Besides the story itself, I loved the characters and their dynamics. They had connections, backgrounds and despite what other reviews said, I don't feel like they lacked character traits or such at all.

I can't wait to listen to more of Eleanor and Ruskin's story in the next two books!

I absolutely love to listen to Roo yap (I don't even care about what). Her talking speed? Fantastic, I didn't even mind listening on 1x speed, it was actually perfect! The contents weren't anything out of this world and very realistic goals and habits to actually Get(ting) Sh*t Done!
I already said that I can listen to Roo talk for ages, so I wouldn't have minded an even longer book xD.

I can't wait to reread it via the Kindle ARC I received (which I am VERY happy and grateful for! hihi)

Well done Roo, this book is GORGEOUS inside and out!

I can't make this review spoiler free because I need to scream about some scenes xD
The childhood scenes? The sign language? (I'm the biggest fan of sign language in books) The HALLOWEEN scene? The last part of the first epilogue?
THANK YOU BESTIE for this rec and thank you for letting me scream and spam <3

I listened to some scenes on audio and I'll reread the book fully via audiobook. The narration is FANTASTIC. Reading and listening felt like two different experiences, because the way he narrated Malachi made it 10x better (how is that even possible). The extras like crying or breathing and the pronunciation were so so well done!!

(audiobook)

I’m not going to lie, the time switches confused me throughout the whole book but that was probably because I listened to the audiobook. Which was amazingly narrated and made the book even more fun! (Just when I thought a Teddy Hamilton book would be nice xD)
I still think about the book weeks later when I see anything wedding like. Definitely a recommendation and Julie is becoming one of my favourite authors for sure!

“It’s about a cello who fell in love with a violin”

I listened to this in two days and from the first minute I knew this is a new comfort book.
I could *hear* the music they were playing while reading and that felt very special and magical.

I can’t wait to get the physical book, read it again and underline my favourite parts.
