"i used to believe i didn't have a soul, but it turns out, i just needed you to fill it up."
i'm not going to lie, with all the hype that everyone gave landon king, specifically, i thought his book would have lived up to his individual hype. don't get me wrong, i did actually love this, but i didn't love it like i expected to. but i love landon and mia together; they are each other's matches, and their love and chemistry helped each other heal in their respective ways.
mia, my mute girl, went through such a traumatic event in her younger years, that caused her to go mute for elevenyears. finding out who wad behind her trauma was so unexpected, and like every other legacy of gods book, i didn't even think to guess correctly. to have landon learn sign language for her without even asking him, and even before they became 'a thing,' was by far one of the best things. he reminded me of my man ryan shay (the right move) in that way, and that made my love for him to grow. mia's friendship with bran is probably my favorite friendship in the series this far, and i loved how he had her back no matter what, and helped her learn things about landon that he wouldn't have probably told her on his own.
"i want your soul, little muse."
landon king. mr. untouchable (because the heathens would lose their gfs lmao) and everyone's favorite. unlike everyone else, he's not my fav (sorry, my cray cray has my heart), but i don't hate him. not one bit. despite his antisocial and narcissistic tendencies, he tried his absolute hardest to be deserving of mia, even when her brother and cousins disapproved of him. even when her twin sister disapproved of him. landon went on numerous suicide missions to be with mia, and that's only admirable in my eyes. he's also a funny character because he quite literally does not give a single fuck, and relishes in everyone's failures LMAO.
anyways, even though this wasn't my fav, i still had a fun time reading this, and i can finally get to my most anticipated in the series, god of fury 😩

"tell me you love me."
"i love you, jeremy. do you love me?"
"i'm fucking crazy about you, lisichka. i love you more than words than words can express."
i will think about this book forever! i anticipated this book specifically after the deception trilogyand it was nothing less than my expectations 🥹 jeremy and cecily have my heart forever omg, the chemistry??? THE CHEMISTRY between them was unmatched. the russian roulette? the chases?? from even before they met, i think they lowk knew they were going to end up together. and if cecily didn't, jeremy sure did. everything about this book had me obsessed, and if you didn't like this, then i don't think we read the same book 🤣
"i fell in love with a mafia prince."
my girl cecily annabelle knight deserves the entire world and more! and jeremy was willing to make her world the happiest it could be. ces went through so much in her past, and i felt for her so badly. no one deserves to go through what she did and live in fear like that. then to be in so much fear that she felt like she couldn't tell her parents or friends?? my girl felt so alone omg 🥺 i'm saying, it's always the girls who are into psychology who have the most trauma under their belt that they don't talk about and you can tell because she was the most trusted in the friend group. she was everyone's confidant, but she didn't have one for herself.
until jeremy volkov. "jeremy makes me the best version of myself."
my baby jeremy. he needed someone like cecily. to heal. to love. to be the best version of himself. "she's the only person whose company i feel free in. there's no sense of duty nor a weight on my shoulders. cecily knight is the calm in a loud, chaotic world." he saw the woman he loved first (his mama, lia volkov) in cecily, and that right there was all he needed to want to give cecily everything under the stars. reading his pov about lia volkov (deception trilogy) actually broke me, because omg he remembered everything??? especially the bad??? i just want to give my baby jer a hug, i love and adore him so so much.
"i'm lucky to have you."
"that's where you're wrong. i'm the one who's lucky to have you, lisichka."

"do you think he'll get glyndon back?"
"oh, i'm sure he will. he looks at her the way you look at me."
"and how do i look at you?"
"like you'll destroy the world as long as i remain safe."
did i finish the book, or did the book finish me? miss rina, what have you done to me 😩??? the way i ate this book up from start to finish should be illegal, like ma'am, it's only the first in the series. this book dragged every emotion of out me possible, because WHY were the last few pages nothing but ✨chaos✨ like we were happy, then my emotions went all out of wack because of everything that happened.
"you chose me."
"what?"
"back there, you chose me in front of your brother. brothers, plural. and that fucker eli... i'll make sure you always choose me as much as i choose you."
killian mf carson. that is it. that is all. "you make the demons go away, even temporarily." 😩 sobbing, crying, sliding down the wall, my poor little heart omg my misunderstood villain he just wanted to feel loved by his parents 🥺 from the firefly forest, to quitting smoking, to taking her to meet his parents (with his difficult relationship with them) when she said what he's giving her wasn't enough >>>>>
then my girl glyndon, omg, i loved her. and i love her and jonathan's relationship so much. like i hated jonathan in royal elite, loved him in his books, and just when i thought i couldn't love him any more, here he comes with the best relationship for his only granddaughter omg i can't.
glyndon and killian literally have my heart forever, and no one can make me change my mind !
"i'm yours, my monster."
"and i'm yours, little rabbit."
"oh, i'm sure he will. he looks at her the way you look at me."

"you might be able to live without me, but i won't survive a day without you."
"you'd rather die than let go of the past?"
"i would rather die than live without you. you don't complete me, you're a part of me."
the ONLY reason this isn't a full 5 stars is because of how long it took me to get into this, but once i did... CHILE you would've had to pry this book from my cold, dead hands for me to put it down. from the relationship between annika and her brother, jeremy, to creighton and annika's relationship, to the plot twist, to just everything. creighton and annika literally own my heart, mind, body, and soul, oh my 😩.
annika volkov, the only daughter to lia and adrian volkov (monster trilogy), and the younger sister to jeremy volkov (god of wrath), is nothing short of a yapper. ballerina and purple, obsessed fashionista, i was deeply obsessed with how her and her brother were ride or die's for each other. they were like the sibling bonnie and clyde, if you will. but the way annika TOOK CREIGHTON OUT OF HIS SHELL to the point where not even his own BROTHER, cousins, and friends recognized him was insane ! that's wtf i'm talking about 🤣! how she defied her parents' wishes because she loved creighton that much, and (view spoiler) because the way i was sobbing, chile, idk how i made it.
"you win, little purple.... all of me. my heart, body, and soul are yours... i lost to you a long time ago. i love you, annika. i love you to the point where i see darkness without you and light only when i'm with you. you're my sanctuary and the one person who makes me whole."
creighton king. CREIGHTON. KING. where do i even begin? my selectively mute man had the filthiest mouth, like please it's always the quiet ones ! (view spoiler) that's love if i ever saw it, my oh my.
this book truly lived up to it's name because all i felt was PAIN at one point. and nothing but pain until the epilogue, chile. i need to read my baby jer's book asap (i alr started lmao) because i need his story, especially after reading his parents' and sister's story 🥺.
this damn book had me like that one girl screaming meme

there was potential for a plot and a full length book. should’ve either been a full novel or nothing at all tbh…

check triggers because even though this isn't a dark romance, it carries dark and heavy topics and themes. and i won't lie, i was in between ratings for a long time—3.5 and 3.75 to be exact, but then i cried. i had the emotions of a lifetime reading this. especially towards the end, and even more specifically in the last 25% percent—so much was happening, it was just so overwhelming
but how my heart BROKE for valentina. i should have seen it coming; i knew what she went through, but my oh my, i wasn't prepared. my girl is the strongest, and she deserves the entire universe, not just the world. the universe, galaxy, milky way, all of it. from trailer park to marrying in millions, i love that for her.
and tripp. the man that he is. as golden retriever as he is, he's far from it when... yeah imma stop there. but the way he loved valentina unconditionally, and was even willing to get disowned by his parents for her. he chose her above anything and anybody else. to be loved is to be seen, and that is what he did for valentina. he saw her. through thick and thin, literally.
