A Thousand Ships by Natalie Haynes
4.5
Just as I promised him: this was never the story of one woman, or two. It was the story of all of them. A war does not ignore half the people whose lives it touches. So why do we?'
Just finished A Thousand Ships by Natalie Haynes and it was pretty incredible. Definitely serves it's purpose well, in providing a fresh perspective on the events of the fall of Troy. My main reason for not giving it a full five stars is that there is a lot of jumping around on the timeline of events. I think if I was less familiar with the texts this book pulls from that would have made it quite confusing. Fortunately for my reading experience I am very familiar with those stories, but I do think it makes the book slightly less accessible.
