I didn’t really know what to expect from this - I’m saving Lovelight Farms for the festive season. But I really enjoyed the writing, the setting, the characters and the romance 🥰

Super cute country farm setting so can’t wait to read more in the series! Big grumpy softie pines after social sunshine girl. I loved the dynamic between the 2 of them, how they just seemed to get what the other needed. 💕

I LOVE that Beckett is just a good man…there isn’t an ounce of arsehole there which is actually hard to find in male protagonists within the romance genre. I love his layers with his family, the tattoos the stars and the kittens. ✨

Evelyn was a little too oblivious that I’d like but she totally fits the character needed. I love that she was just on the hunt to find happiness. To set out of the world of social media, very refreshing 😮‍💨

I really looked forward to any scenes between the 2 of them. The intimate scenes were well placed, and considering this starts out as a one night thing…I’m surprised how much I loved this romance as I’m not a second chance fan. 🫶

The book was maybe slightly too long considering the plot wasn’t anything mega. As always, didn’t love the third act ‘miscommunication’, especially since this couple reads as pretty mature but it didn’t destroy the book so I’ll let it pass. 👀

The Fine Print 🏰 Review

‘You’re comparing yourself to the fictional characters she loves now? You’re fucked. Absolutely fucked’ - Lauren Asher 📚

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 3.5 Stars

I went in blind with this book so I was pleasantly surprised by the setting! Dreamland is basically Disneyland…I’m sold! 😂 I couldn’t think of a better setting for a romance.

I adored them individually, grumpy x sunshine is always fun. Their interactions were great, I really looked forward to their interactions at work 💖

I personally enjoyed the plot, I liked hearing the creators ideas for the park. The diversity with Ani was really well intertwined with the plot 👍🏻

I personally found the last 100 pages a bit too dramatic - maybe it’s my age 😂. It was close to a 5 star romance for me until that point. Rowan couldn’t redeem himself imo. I’m also not a fan of short epilogues with huge amounts of info in the future - could’ve done without it. 🙈

But overall, a fun flirty read. Super easy and quick! 🥰

‘And on that long-ago summer night, my mother had taught me that in order to survive, you sometimes have to cut and run. Leave people behind. Just go’ Simone St James 🏃🏼‍♀️

Super fun, 90s style horror. For starters, this redesign by @evernightbooks is ICONIC. It really matches the small town honeymooners vibe of the story. 📻

The start hooked me. Who doesn’t love a horror that starts with getting lost on a dark spooky road? A gruesome victim, an eerie atmosphere 👻 it was a strong opening.

Simone did a great job at making me suspicious of everyone in town, including our main characters, they felt untrustworthy. It’s a super fun summer read, I found it so easy to blast through. 👌🏻

All that said, the writing was a bit YA and slow in the middle. I wouldn’t say I was scared at any point, especially as it unravelled quite early on. For me, paranormal horrors have to be SO well written and suspenseful in order to remain scary. 🙈

Again, very weird, at times uncomfortable but somehow these books always get me out of a slump 😂 By no means are they well written, at times they’re wildly uncomfortable and I sense repetitiveness…but I’m here for the sass and cringe, they’re just a bit of fun🤷🏻‍♀️

Definitely a case of it’s not you, it’s me.

This short story faces some really heartbreaking themes: racism, love, loss and mental health. The writing was poetic and just beautiful for such a short read. ✍🏻

However, I personally just really struggled. I don’t know if it was the writing being second person. I don’t know if it was the descriptive writing. But my slow Brian struggled to connect to the characters and the story which SUCKS. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Long Way Down 🛗 Review

‘People always love people more when they’re dead’ - Jason Reynolds 💀

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 Stars

A powerful novel in verse. The favourite so far actually. Reynolds has such a way with words. I was captivated and read this in one sitting. 👀

The use of verse really suits this concept. The cycle of violence.
Will is grieving the murder of his brother. Over 240 pages we travel in the elevator with him, 7 floors. Will holds a gun to avenge his brother’s death. On those floors, we meet 6 people from his past. Will is following the rules he has been taught, but can the cycle be stopped before he reaches the ground floor? 🔫

I really enjoyed Jason’s afterword at the end of the audiobook. It provided personal experience and truly hammered home how important stories like this are. Beautiful book. 👍🏻

‘it was like drinking the feeling of being peaceful. Being peaceful in your mind. Well, not if you have too much, then it’s something else’ - Travis Baldree 🥐

Such a cozy read! I was worried it would be too slow for my brain but it really is like a warm hug in a book. The setting was perfect, the characters oh so loveable. I actually didn’t want any of the external plot creeping in at times but get that we needed a little bit to move us along. Audiobook was great too! 🧋

Cute little nod to L&L, I didn’t need it at all though.
