Dare I say I loved this book more than ACOMAF 🙈 I didn’t think it was possible but this book just gave me across the board emotions.
Love that we got to see more of every character. I love the inner circle so much. But we also got lots of newbies - scenes with the other court leaders were SO tense 👀
I love that whilst this still had some romance going on, primarily we got our battle. This book had me tensing, I was so nervous. And those final 150 pages - I was not well. I was SOBBING 😭

I’m surprised I enjoyed this as much as I did, as I had been warned it was a pretty slow start into the TOG series. And it was, very comparable to the first ACOTAR book in terms of the slow pacing to start with. 🐌
Character wise, TOG smashed it. I adored Celaena was so badass, so sassy, I was immediately on her side. Chaol I quite liked also, very reserved and unassuming. Damon I’m undecided on - humour wise, he can match Celaena’s energy but the arrogance did annoy me. Nehemia, I enjoyed a lot, so much mystery but supportive energy 🥰
It’s a shame the pace was so slow to start with as the character relationships were pretty strong. Also, the little action and thrill we did get towards the end was SO KICKASS 🤛🏻
For an assassin, I really wanted to see more of Celaena’s skills. The trials, considering how important they were, just weren’t shown at all? This book could’ve been WAY more exciting if they’d been the main focus with the flirting sprinkled on top. 🧁

I’m so happy to have more Nick and Charlie! And I’m glad Alice decided to give us 6 volumes in the end because I’m SO not ready to let go 🥹
Another packed volume. Nick is thinking about his future and university options. Charlie is navigating recovery and pushing himself to be happy. 🏫
I love how we got to see how comfortable the boys are around each other. I love that they both thought about each other in their decision making but ultimately know they need to be their own person too 👍🏻 healthy relationship
The intimacy topic in this volume is so well approached. It felt safe and not at all forced, something I think young readers need to see 🩵

Really great concept, some great drama and mystery going on. The description of the woods and the creatures gave me some great mental images throughout. 🌑
The characters were pretty fun and light which made the book less dark overall. The slight whiff of romance was a nice level so it didn’t over power the actual story. 🖤
Didn’t get many answers so look forward to book 2! Edition is by @illumicrate 📚
Love a manga or graphic novel to break up some heavy/large reads. I had to pick this up when I saw it in @gayonwye when I went to Hay on Wye last month. 📚
A VERY cute read. I adore the illustration style. And the message behind it is lovely. I’m so happy books like this exist for young people and parents 🥰
It reads very straight to the point and is definitely targeted to younger readers plot wise which works just fine for the contents. ✨
