First of all, the illustrations and the colours in this graphic novel/comic are PERFECT. Visually, this book is stunning. 🖍️
Also, the vibe at the start was SO GOOD! Waking up on Nov 1st to the worst paper delivery morning of the year. Picture the streets scattered in drunk teenagers in Halloween costumes - terrifying for a 12 year old girl right? 👻
Unfortunately, this really didn’t go the route I expected. I’m not really sure what happened. But there was sci fi alien looking creatures, time machines and dinosaurs?? Also if you’re not into gore…this isn’t for you. 🪐
Very cool comic just not for me, it’s very adult. I wanted a Scooby Doo? Like, Halloween goers become monsters in the girls minds but they’re just kids in costumes yano? Not aliens with guns and creepy men. 😂
Yes, I’m the last person on booksta to review FW. And yes, I bloody loved it. I don’t think I’ve fallen so heavily for a book since HOEAB 👀 but of course the dragons did it.
I bloody love a dragon. I bloody love a dragon school. I bloody love a bloody death or several hundred. I bloody love a golden retriever bestie. And I bloody love a slow burn 🔥
So here I am now, half jumping to read iron flame and half scared to death. But in summary…I want a dragon 🐉
Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

Umm…I didn’t love this. I know a lot of the booksta community aren’t Hoover fans and I can absolutely understand why. This book highlights all of it. 🙈
First of all, ‘It Ends With Us’ - I actually enjoyed. Personally, I thought it tackled DV well enough. It drew a lot of attention to the reasons people stay with an abuser. I went into in blind and felt a lot by the end of the book. Also Hoovers writing is easy to get along with 🤔
However, this book went down the route I hoped it wouldn’t. It seemed to romanticised every aspect of the previous book. Atlas, though Hoover tried to make him kind and patient, still came across creepy. And everything just seemed so fast and unresolved. 💀
I’m so sad! This book sounded right up my alley but it just didn’t hit for me. This was actually my second attempt after DNFing the first time so I’m not totally shocked. 🙃
Let’s start with the positives. There was a lot of potential. The modernisation of witches had moments of magic, I was super excited to get sucked into that side of things. ✨ Also the social issues discussed in this book are obviously something I love seeing in literature. The representation was there. 👍🏻
Unfortunately, I just found it hard work, even with the audio. It was a slow start, started to pick up and then lost me again. 💀 The witchy vibes didn’t hit for me, the characters I didn’t really care for and the world just felt normal…🙈
So many people adore this book, it just disappointed me.

I loved this book 😭 it was really cute. A wedding planner and a florist just worked so well! I could feel the heat burning between them. 🔥
I loved Elliotts blunt comments throughout. I wasn’t as much of a fan of Ama and her flakiness but the emotional exploration from both POV throughout made it work. 🥰
☀️ Grumpy x Sunshine ☀️ Second Chance ☀️ Slow Burn ☀️ Dual Timeline/POV
Also this @afterlightbooks edition has the cutest edges and endpapers 🪻
I love pirates! I love badass female pirates even more! This book is so well written. It felt adult whilst still feeling fun and free. 🏴☠️
Loved the backstory, I love how we got an older mum as our MFC. I felt attached to the crew and I fell deep into the world without realising. It wasn’t until I reached the final chapter that I realised how much I loved this book. It was refreshing and new. ✨
I’ve always been obsessed with AC so safe to say I was VERY excited by these books. The characters, the art style just brings so much happiness 🥰
Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy this first volume as much as I’d hoped 💔 it was very tutorial heavy, with no plot and just a bit chaotic in an annoying way 🙃
I’m gonna give volume 2 a shot, but this is clearly aimed at young, new players. I’m obviously not the target audience. 🎣
One of my favourite first volumes so far! Picked it up randomly, but it was just such a fun and easy read 🥰
It has some cliche cringe moments, but for the most part this book was funny and very high school. The characters are also all pretty likeable, side character included. 📚
I adored this book 😭 I was so worried at the start as I went in blind. The descriptive writing, whilst beautiful, had me doubting if I could make it through this chonk of a book. But I needn’t have worried 🥰
Laini creates such a clear picture of the world. The premise of the book, the plot itself - so original. Books opening with the promise of adventure, aren’t usually my thing but I was absorbed completely once we met Sarai and her fellow blues 👀
The characters are the reason this book won my heart. They were really well developed, I felt I knew each and every one of them. The whole romance thing was done in such a delicate way, I didn’t mind it. 💕
And that ending! How dare you!! I’ll never recover 🤯
Okay, every volume just gets better! The rivalry was GIVING. I’m loving how they all started to work as a team. The fencing in this one is top tier. Really wish these were longer, Fence is my happy place 🥰
